The representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in the Joint Operations Room, Abd al-Khaliq Talaat, announced, on Tuesday, the date of the launch of the joint coordination committee between Erbil and Baghdad between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army.

“The United States is determined to fill the security vacuum in the areas between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army, with forces from both sides of the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army,” Talaat said in a press statement followed by (Baghdad Today).

She added that “the joint coordination committee between Erbil and Baghdad will start its duties soon,” noting “a high-level meeting between the Iraqi Joint Operations Command and the Ministry of Peshmerga.”

He pointed out that “at the same time, the importance of the return of the Peshmerga forces to the borders of the disputed areas.”

“This coordination committee will consist of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command and the Ministry of Peshmerga, and it will monitor the areas suffering from a security vacuum and witnessing ISIS operations,” Talaat said.

He pointed out that “after the recent missile attack on Erbil on the 15th of last February, the American insistence on filling the security vacuum in the areas between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army increased with forces from both sides.”
