URGENT Provincial commission announces participation rates in elections and date of results

Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Halboussi said on Sunday that all political blocs agreed to abide by the constitutional terms for the election of the presidents and ministers.

A senior Kurdish political source said Sunday that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has given up in favor of the Patriotic Union for the Presidency of the Republic, while most of the Kurdish blocs will vote for Barham Saleh for his post.

“The two Kurdish parties agreed to return the scenario of 2014, which included the nomination of Fouad Masum and Barham Ahmed Saleh, to the presidency of the republic, but the infallible was more fortunate than Saleh,” the source told (Baghdad Today), adding that “the two Kurdish parties agreed To vote for Barham Saleh in Baghdad, to get the presidency of the Republic. ”

He explained that “the Kurdistan Democratic Party initially waived the presidency of the Republic of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, in return for obtaining important positions and privileges in Baghdad and Kirkuk, including the advisers in the presidency.”
