He added, “It is possible to classify politicians into more than one category, including those who try to squander the wealth that comes from high oil revenues as a result of high oil prices, and on top of them are government officials, and some of them are trying to protect them or who are trying to obstruct the current government’s control over money.”

Regarding the contradiction of government policies in dealing with revenues, he explained: Whenever revenues diminish, the government looks for austerity policies, increase taxes or change the exchange rate, noting that whenever those revenues increase, the government contradicts itself by setting high spending policies without feeling responsible about the future of the upcoming budgets. And protect Iraq from the reversal of the economic cycle.

He pointed out that an increase in spending above the periodic general budgets of 130 trillion, may lead to an increase in domestic inflation facing the consumer.

Al-Ali called for investing large oil revenues to establish a development fund away from the government’s hand and disposal, adding that the fund contributes to financing strategic projects inside Iraq in partnership with large investment companies and to obtain and develop revenues, such as metro projects, railway projects, and refinery projects.

He concluded his speech by saying that the economies are working to protect the consumer from inflation, as in the United States, where it is working today to increase the interest rate and reduce public budgets to reduce its historical inflation rate.
