Shafaq News / The Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives revealed, today, Sunday, that the largest number within the parliament has not been registered until now.

A senior official in the Presidency told Shafak News, “The dispute of the largest bloc emerged after the announcements of the results of the parliamentary elections in 2018.

And the source indicated that “the parliamentary blocs neglected this, after it came to the resigned Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, in a manner compatible, without the need for the largest bloc, and for this reason, no bloc made an official request in this regard.”

And Iraqi President Barham Saleh sent an inquiry earlier today to the House of Representatives regarding the largest parliamentary bloc, which is responsible for submitting a candidate for prime minister.

The blocs and parties represented in the Al-Fateh coalition in the Iraqi parliament, the second largest bloc in the Iraqi parliament, are seeking to put the name of Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, a leader in the Islamic Dawa party led by Nuri al-Maliki, to fill the position, which is rejected by the “Saeroon” bloc led by Muqtada al-Sadr and the demonstrators, in addition to the Shiite authority The Supreme Court has previously requested the candidacy of a person who has not assumed any government post after 2003.

The victory, wisdom, and Sunni currents movement also opposes the nomination of a candidate from within the political process to occupy the position of prime minister, preferring a candidate who is consistent with the demands of the demonstrators.

It was not clear yet the features of the new candidate to assume the post of prime minister in the next government whose features have not yet been determined, and whether it is a transitional government for a specified period, or a government that completes the term of the resigned government.

The 15-day deadline was nearing the end under which President Barham Saleh could constitutionally appoint a candidate to form a government in accordance with the constitution.
