The battle for the liberation of Mosul is coming to an end despite security and humanitarian obstacles

BAGHDAD, April 15 (Petra) – Iraqi security forces are trying to resolve their battle by completing the liberation of Mosul’s old city and ending terrorism, while millions of civilians are suffering the brunt of the brutal war.

“The battle for the restoration of Mosul has become its last stop and the morale of gang members is currently being undermined and some of its elements are fleeing while others are dying,” Brigadier General Ahmad al-Hadidi told the Petra news agency in Baghdad.

“Only 25 percent of the city’s right-hand coast is left with a gangster’s hand,” he said. “It represents the old city of small houses, alleys and narrow alleys,” he said, noting that the battle was prolonged because hundreds of civilians were in their homes.

The battle to restore the right coast in Mosul began on 19 February 2017 when announced by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi as commander in chief of the armed forces, in coordination with the coalition forces that provide international logistics and aviation.

Despite the security obstacles posed by the terrorist organization in the city of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city with a population of more than 3 million, there are obstacles on the humanitarian side to be borne by the civilian population of detainees in Mosul or residents in IDP camps who lack services Humanitarian and health.

The Iraqi government has estimated some 320,000 displaced people from the right coast of Mosul since the battle to liberate it. About 300 civilians are still inside the Old City, preventing the organization from calling for their exit in order to protect them against Iraqi security forces, making them the victims of indiscriminate bombing and direct targeting of terrorists against them. Escape.
