Shafaq News/ A close associate of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Saleh Muhammad al-Iraqi, nicknamed “Minister of the Leader”, called on Tuesday, the supporters of the Sadrist movement sit-in inside the Iraqi parliament building to evacuate it, announcing the start of forming a committee to manage protests.
Al-Iraqi said in a tweet on Twitter, followed by Shafak News Agency, “After the parliament was liberated and turned into a parliament for the people, thanks to God Almighty and the efforts of the heroic revolutionaries, the following has been decided.”
He added, “Evacuation of the parliament building and the transformation of the sit-in in and around Parliament and its approaches within a maximum period of 72 hours from the date of this publication.”
He continued, “If there are other places in front of which you should sit, instructions will come to you accordingly,” stressing that “the permanence of the sit-in is very important to achieve your demands, which we will provide you with later, so the sit-in must be organized in the form of meals with the momentum of the numbers remaining at specific times.”
Al-Iraqi pointed out that “the unified Friday prayers for the combined prayers of Baghdad, Babylon, Kut, Karbala and Najaf will be held in the celebration square at the end of this week.”
He concluded by saying, “We are in the process of forming a committee by the protesters to manage and organize the protests and take care of everything necessary.”
Since last Saturday morning, the Sadrist movement’s demonstrators stormed the fortified Green Zone in the capital, Baghdad, and the Iraqi parliament, and announced from there an open sit-in in protest against the candidate of the coordination framework to head the new government, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, and demanded that the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, take over the formation of the government.
