Shafak News / A senior source in the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq denied on Saturday that President Barham Saleh had received the name of a candidate in order to present him to the House of Representatives to fill the position of Prime Minister instead of resigning Adel Abdul Mahdi.
And media outlets from Sulaimaniyah, Saleh’s birthplace, quoted the source as saying that “in the few days it was talked about the president taking over the name of a candidate for the position of prime minister”, adding that “this matter has not been resolved yet and the issue is not related to the lack of a personality to be nominated for this.” The position, but rather the problem, is that protesters will not accept that the candidate be among the Iraqi political parties. “
The source added, “We deny completely and in detail the news that President Saleh received the name of a candidate for the position of Prime Minister, and we believe that this issue is not so easy.”
Local Iraqi and other Arab media circulated leaks about the nomination of Muhammad Shi’a Al-Sudani, a former member of the Islamic Call Party, who is close to the leader of the rule of law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, for the position of the next Iraqi prime minister.
