Source: The crisis of nominating the candidate for the presidency of Iraq is over and Barzani Party will vote for Barham Saleh on condition

A senior Kurdish political source said Sunday that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has given up in favor of the Patriotic Union for the Presidency of the Republic, while most of the Kurdish blocs will vote for Barham Saleh for his post.

“The two Kurdish parties agreed to return the scenario of 2014, which included the nomination of Fouad Masum and Barham Ahmed Saleh, to the presidency of the republic, but the infallible was more fortunate than Saleh,” the source told (Baghdad Today), adding that “the two Kurdish parties agreed To vote for Barham Saleh in Baghdad, to get the presidency of the Republic. ”

He explained that “the Kurdistan Democratic Party initially waived the presidency of the Republic of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, in return for obtaining important positions and privileges in Baghdad and Kirkuk, including the advisers in the presidency.”

The source added that “in addition to the vote of the majority of the members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Barham Saleh, the Movement for Change, the Islamic Union, and the Islamic Group, will vote for the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.”

He concluded by saying that “the mobility of the new generation will not vote on Barham Saleh for the presidency because of a previous dispute between them.”

On the other side of the leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Majid Shankali, Sunday, September 30, 2018, the existence of an agreement with the construction coalition led by Nuri al-Maliki and Hadi al-Amiri, to vote in favor of candidate Fuad Hussein in the next parliament session.

“The talk of some deputies on the vote for the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Barham Saleh is unrealistic and confiscated from the deputies do not have the decision and the word,” said Shankali, noting that “his party has an agreement with the coalition building to vote for the candidate of the party Fuad Hussain”.

He pointed out that “the Democratic Party has significant agreements and understandings with the construction coalition, and we believe that the reality will be resolved in the coming hours,” noting that “there are intensive negotiations also to reach an agreement to go to Baghdad with one candidate.”

He added that “most of the political blocs in Baghdad stressed the need to come Kurds one candidate for the presidency of the Republic to vote on it within the House of Representatives.”

He stressed that “going with one candidate is in the interest of the Kurds, because the multiplicity of candidates will weaken the Kurdish forces and will affect the process of forming the next government in the Kurdistan region.”
