The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, received on Monday evening, the Special Envoy of the US President to the international coalition against Da’ash, Brett McGurk and the accompanying delegation, and discussed the political situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The delegation, led by Brett McGuck, included US Ambassador to Iraq Douglas Seelman and US Consul General in Erbil, Stephen Vicken.
“The two sides discussed the election of the Iraqi parliament speaker and his deputies, in addition to the talks between the political forces in Iraq on the one hand, the Kurdistan Region with Baghdad on the other hand, and the elections of the parliament of Kurdistan, For their support for the important role played by the Kurdish parties in Baghdad, which emerged through their active participation in the political process in Iraq.
For his part, pointed to Barzani, according to the statement, “The political forces in Kurdistan are always trying to have an active participation in the political process in Iraq, and clarify positions in Baghdad, and the formation of the new Iraqi government,” noting that “the talks between the political forces in Kurdistan, The Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan is continuing to reach a consensus on all political files in Baghdad, “asserting that” the election campaigns of the Parliament of Kurdistan is going smoothly and regularly in the Kurdistan Region. “
In another part of the meeting, the parties discussed the general situation in the region, and some issues related to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
