BAGHDAD (Reuters) – A number of demonstrators from several provinces joined demonstrators in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square to press the Iraqi government and parliament to resign and give way to the formation of a transitional government paving the way for early legislative elections, witnesses said on Friday.

Thousands of Iraqis flocked to the streets of Tahrir Square in Baghdad, Basra, Nasiriyah, Missan, Diwaniya, Wasit, Babylon, Muthanna, Karbala and Najaf after Friday prayers, and the Shia authority announced in its weekly sermon today to confirm its support for the ongoing protests since last October.
