Al-Saidi said in an interview with (Baghdad Today), “The political pressure was the main factor in hiding the files of corruption, everyone who participates in the political process tolerated in showing these files to the public, and everyone knows that all political parties are part of the system of corruption.” .
“The public pressure led to the issuance of arrest warrants, which were hidden during the previous period,” he said, usually following up these files and showing them “a victory for the people, justice and the oppression of the people, and the beginning of a new start.”
Since the outbreak of popular demonstrations in Baghdad and the central and southern provinces, which are still ongoing, denouncing corruption and demanding the departure of the ruling political elite, several courts have issued arrest warrants for local officials and former and current members of the House of Representatives for corruption, and sentenced some of them to prison.
Last Friday, (November 15, 2019) in a speech delivered by his deputy in Karbala, Ahmed al-Safi, said that “since the outbreak of popular demonstrations in Baghdad and the central and southern provinces, which are still ongoing, denouncing corruption and demanding the departure of the elite The ruling political, several courts issued arrest warrants and recruiting against local officials and former and current members of the House of Representatives for corruption, and also sentenced some of them to imprisonment.
He added, “Although not long after the start of popular protests calling for reform, and the blood of the hundreds of martyrs and thousands of wounded and wounded in this honorable road, but the demands of the protesters have not been achieved so far on the ground, Especially in the field of prosecution of the corrupt senior and the recovery of looted money from them and the abolition of unfair privileges granted to certain groups at the expense of the rest of the people and away from quotas and favoritism in taking special grades and so on. The demonstrators, even at minimal levels, are not in the interest of building confidence by achieving some real reform on their hands. ”
