Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi announced on Tuesday the existence of arrest warrants issued against 11 ministers and those of their rank, pointing out the existence of 1367 cases of corruption referred to the Integrity Courts.
Abdul Mahdi said in a speech during the weekly conference that “there are unresolved issues in various state institutions amounted to 4117 cases in total,” pointing to the existence of “1367 cases of corruption referred to the courts of integrity”
“There are arrest warrants issued against 11 ministers and those of their rank,” Abdul Mahdi said. “The Anti-Corruption Council has strengthened its measures to combat corruption and to pursue the corrupt.”
“We will mention the names of the defendants if the investigations prove their corruption,” he said, adding that “we have removed the US Treasury sanctions file on the legal advisers to decide.”
“The US moves in Iraq are in coordination with the Iraqi government and we are monitoring the movements,” he said. “There is no consolidation of the popular crowd in the army or police because it is a special category for the armed forces.”
