Twilight News / The official of the Sulaymaniyah Organization Office – Halabja of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Ali Hussein, expressed his optimism on Friday about the possibility of overcoming the problems and political differences between his party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, warning at the same time of a threat to the stability of all Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region.
Hussein said in a statement to reporters on the sidelines of a visit today to the Grand Mosque in Sulaymaniyah, that Iraq and the region are going through a sensitive situation, adding that “there is a threat to the stability of the region in general, and Iraq and the Kurdistan Region as well.”
On relations and the next meeting between the two main parties in the region, Hussein explained: We have many common points with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and we will start with common points to resolve issues.
“We have a good experience in the Kurdistan Region that requires the loyalty and work of all patriots, and good progress has been made in various fields, and our experience must be preserved,” he added.
The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party also pointed out that “there is a plurality of views between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the past, but through dialogue we will be able to solve problems and bring views closer.”
He stressed that the Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union are responsible parties, and they have responsibility for this stage, and we will try to start from our common points and solve problems.
On the new agreement demanded by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan between Hussein, “We had a strategic agreement and we were with the continuation of the agreement, but talking here and there about a new agreement that I expect is an extension of the problems of the past, but we have common points and we are trying to discuss common points.”
“We and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan are not only responsible, but all other parties are responsible for the situation in the Kurdistan Region, but we are mainly responsible because Kurdistan belongs to everyone and everyone is responsible for it,” he continued.
On the date of the national and democratic meeting, Ali Hussein said that the meeting will be tomorrow in Sulaymaniyah and at the level of the Political Bureau.
On holding elections for the Kurdistan Parliament, he stressed that the Democratic Party supports holding the elections on time, and the President of the region has set a date and we are committed.
On amending the election law, Ali Hussein said, “We are not against amending the law and transforming the region into multiple electoral districts, and we are not afraid of this thing, and this was clarified by what we obtained in the elections of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, but the request came late and I do not expect we can amend the election law at this time.”
“If the elections do not take place on time, the experience of the Kurdistan Region will be questioned, and both the Kurdish people and our friends in the world have the right not to accept us,” he added.
The Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in the Kurdistan Region, which is leading in the Kurdistan Democratic Party, announced on Thursday that his party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan will meet on Saturday with the aim of working to solve the problems between them.
