Shafaq News / On Wednesday, the Kurdistan Regional Government decided to suspend the official working hours for a week on the occasion of birthdays and the New Year.
This came in a statement received by Shafaq News, issued following the weekly cabinet meeting.
The statement indicated that the Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region presented, on the occasion of Christmas and New Year’s Day, its sincere congratulations and blessings to the people of Kurdistan, especially Christian brothers and sisters on this occasion.
The Council announced the suspension of official departments, from December 27 until January 2021.
Earlier Wednesday, the General Directorate of Christian Affairs in the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government decided to cancel the celebrations marking the New Year holidays due to the outbreak of the Corona virus.
The directorate said in a statement today, that with the aim of preventing the spread of the virus, the Eid for this year will be limited to holding mass ceremonies in the church only, and except for this, gatherings or celebrations will not be held in event halls inside churches.
