Shafaq News / On Thursday evening, a meeting took place between the high-ranking delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government, which is visiting Baghdad, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, with the committee formed by the Iraqi Parliament authorized to negotiate and find an appropriate and constitutional solution to the problems between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.

A statement by the regional government received by Shafaq News stated that the meeting witnessed a clear discussion of the causes of the problems and how to solve them for the sake of the citizens of the region and Iraq.

The head of the Kurdish delegation, Qubad Talabani, told the assigned committee that the regional government has shown all its preparations to deal with the financial rights and entitlements of the region in accordance with the constitution and applicable laws, expressing his readiness to reach an agreement.

The committee in charge of Parliament had held meetings with the competent Iraqi authorities and was busy preparing its recommendations in order to find an appropriate mechanism as soon as possible for the outstanding issues, especially the oil and financial problems.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee asked the region’s delegation to present its proposals and recommendations, in order for the parliamentary committee to be able to unite them with its plans in order to formulate an appropriate exit and provide facilities for defining the duties and rights of the Kurdistan Region in the 2021 budget.

It is scheduled that the Parliamentary Committee will hold its meeting during the next two days with the federal government in order to crystallize a way to solve the problems that are in the interest of both sides.

The region’s delegation arrived in Baghdad yesterday to resume talks with Baghdad with the aim of reaching a solution regarding financial disputes and the Kurdistan Region’s share in the financial budget for the next year.

Since last April, the federal government cut the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees, which put the Kurdistan Regional Government in a stifling financial crisis.

Brent crude rises above $50 per barrel for first time since March

Oil prices continue to strengthen even after reported spike in US oil inventories

Reuters

December 10, 2020

Oil prices climbed more than 4 per cent on Thursday, with Brent surging above $50 a barrel for the first time since early March, fuelled by hopes of a faster demand recovery as countries start to roll out Covid-19 vaccines.

The bullish sentiment offset a large increase in US crude inventories that showed there was still ample supply available.

Britain began vaccinations this week and the United States could start inoculations as soon as this weekend. Canada on Wednesday approved its first vaccine and said initial shots would be delivered starting next week.

Brent crude rose $2.05, or 4.2 per cent, to $50.91 a barrel by 7.51pm UAE time, rising for a third day. US West Texas Intermediate crude rose $2.03, or 4.5 per cent, to $47.55 a barrel.

Oil gained even after Wednesday’s weekly report on US oil inventories showed a massive, 15.2 million barrel rise in crude stocks. Analysts had expected a 1.4 million barrel drop.

“It is not every day that the market ignores weekly builds of U.S. crude inventories,” said Bjornar Tonhaugen, Rystad Energy’s head of oil markets. “Fast-tracking vaccinations is raising hopes that oil demand will benefit quicker and the North American markets are major consumers.”

Concern over an attack on an Iraqi oilfield also lent support. Two wells at a small field were set ablaze by explosives on Wednesday, but overall production from the field was not affected.

Oil has recovered from historic lows reached in April when the pandemic hammered demand, helped by a record supply-cut deal by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies.

OPEC+ will further ease its supply restrictions in January by adding an extra 500,000 barrels per day although the easing is more gradual than previously agreed, to provide additional support to the market.

(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, called today, Thursday, on the occasion of Victory Day, not to forfeit the victories and to consolidate the authority and sovereignty of the state.

The media office of the President of the Republic said in a statement that Al Furat News received a copy of, that “in fulfillment of the sacrifices and the pure blood that were shed on the road to liberation and blocking the way to the remnants of terrorism by continuing the war on terror and not being complacent, the victories must not be abandoned and the state’s authority and sovereignty strengthened.”

The President affirmed “the necessity to initiate the fight against corruption, to strengthen the authority of the state and to consolidate its sovereignty in enforcing the law, to protect the security and stability of citizens, to initiate structural reform and to meet the entitlement of free and fair elections, in a manner that guarantees the true will of the voters away from pressures, fraud and manipulation, and the return of the displaced to their cities,” Treating all the traces left by terrorist groups. ”

Saleh pointed to “the importance of working diligently to reduce tensions in the region that terrorist groups often exploit to implement their goals,” stressing “Iraq’s steadfast position in distancing itself from regional conflicts, and that it is a fundamental basis for regional and international cooperation to establish peace and limit conflicts that undermine them.” Stability in the region, and its repercussions into the Iraqi interior.

The following is the text of the statement:

On days like these, we remember with reverence and appreciation the heroic heroics and sacrifices of our valiant security forces in their victory over ISIS terrorism and the liberation of cities and villages from its clutches. We bring to mind the stories of resilience and challenge embodied by the sacrifices of our heroes, and the Iraqi people of all sects have lined up with them, supporting and supporting the sake of dignity, freedom and peace.

On this great occasion, we extend to our people and the heroes of our armed forces from the army, the Federal Police, the Peshmerga, the Popular Mobilization Forces, the tribal mobilization, the security and intelligence services, with our best congratulations, wishing them permanent security and safety, and our country stability and peace.

On this eternal memory, we recall with reverence and gratitude the jihadist fatwa of the Supreme Leader, His Eminence Sistani (may God bless him), which mobilized the energies of the people in the face of ISIS, and had a great impact in defeating the terrorists and achieving the accomplished victory.

Nor can one forget the supportive role of friends in the international coalition and the countries of the region who stood with Iraq in its just war against dark terrorist gangs.

To their cities, and to address all the traces left by the terrorist groups.

In this regard, we also point out that the takfiri terrorist groups are feeding and exploiting the unstable regional conditions, and this requires diligent work in order to reduce tensions in the region, and we affirm here Iraq’s steadfast position to distance itself from regional conflicts and reject their repercussions on its internal security and stability, and in that An essential pillar for regional and international cooperation to establish peace and limit conflicts that undermine stability in the region and have repercussions inside Iraq.
