Shafaq News / The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, discussed in a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, today, Wednesday, December 2, 2020, the bilateral relations that bring the two countries together and strengthen them in various fields through agreements and understandings concluded between the two sides.
During the call, the two presidents reviewed regional developments, and the importance of observing calm and restraint, protecting stability in the region, and adopting dialogue in order to avoid tensions, and to enhance regional security and stability.
The importance of strengthening the sovereignty of Iraq and protecting its stability from interference and tensions in the region was emphasized, as it is a primary hub for defeating terrorism and its remnants, as well as establishing peace in the region and the prosperity of its people, in addition to providing international support in monitoring the upcoming elections in a manner that guarantees their integrity, and the need to join hands in facing the threat of the Corona epidemic. And curtailing its economic and health repercussions, according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic.
The two presidents affirmed that terrorism of all kinds and means aims at peaceful coexistence among human beings, and feeds itself from creating divisions between different religions, sects and affiliations, stressing the need for international solidarity in the face of extremist ideas, and working together to spread the values of coexistence and convergence, respect for religions and human beliefs, and block the road ahead Extremist and racist ideas that target the highest human values of love and peace.
Barham Salih indicated that terrorist groups tried to sow discrimination between Iraqis, targeting Muslims, Christians, Yazidis, Sabeans, and other components alike, to prove that these groups have no religion, and their attempts to undermine societal coexistence were met with the strong popular will to realize their destructive goals.
He indicated that Iraq, in cooperation with allies and friends, is moving forward in continuing the war on ISIS and pursuing its sleeper cells, and continuing to work to end terrorism as a threat to all of humanity.

Shafaq News / On Wednesday, the Kurdistan Regional Government decided to send a delegation to Baghdad to negotiate with the federal government about the region’s financial dues and employees ’salaries.
This came during the weekly cabinet meeting headed by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani.
Barzani said, at the beginning of the session, that “there is no party that cares about the lives and livelihood of the citizens as much as the regional government, which has done everything in its power to secure the salaries of the Kurdistan Region.”
He emphasized: “The region’s financial dues are legitimate rights for the people of Kurdistan, and we will never give them up, and we will continue our talks with the federal government in order to guarantee our constitutional rights.”
The Prime Minister stated, “We were in constant contact with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi and the Iraqi Council of Ministers, and we received a promise from them to solve the salary issue within the next few days.”
Barzani continued by saying, “But if the region’s salaries do not arrive from Baghdad on time and for whatever reason, the KRG will fill the deficit by borrowing until the salaries allocated from Baghdad arrive, and then the borrowing amount will be repaid from the sums sent from Baghdad.”
After discussion and discussion, the Prime Minister directed, on behalf of the Council of Ministers, to start disbursing the salaries of October, starting tomorrow, Thursday, December 3, with a funding rate of 79 percent.
The cabinet also decided to send a government delegation to Baghdad as soon as possible, with the aim of “defending the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region,” according to a statement issued by the regional government received by Shafaq News.
In the second paragraph of the meeting, Barzani’s deputy presented a draft review and organization of the fees paid in return for the services provided, and called for the expediting of sending data on the expenditures and revenues of all ministries to the Supreme Committee in order to reorganize them.

Berwari pointed out that “delaying the budget by the government will delay its approval in Parliament before the beginning of next year in light of the presence of many problems with the federal government in the Ministries of Finance and Planning, which seek to complete the draft law,” calling on the government to “adhere to the dates and times.”

Shafaq News / The British Minister of Middle East and North Africa Affairs, James Cleverley, on Tuesday urged the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government to resolve the differences and outstanding issues between them, especially with regard to the salary file and the public financial budget.
Claverley said in a press conference today in Erbil, attended by Shafaq News Agency, that: The British government is a long-standing friend of the Kurdish people and also an old friend of the Iraqi government and a great supporter of the regional government, and at the same time we support the Iraqi government, adding that it is painful to see that there are differences between Erbil and Baghdad, but it is possible. Addressing these problems and talking to both parties, we hope to reach positive results soon.
He also added, “I am very happy that the relations between the region and Britain are very good. We are old friends of the Kurdish people. We have ample information about the Kurdish people. The regional presidency said in a statement that the two sides discussed the Kurdistan Region and Iraq’s relations with Britain, the latest developments in the Iraqi political and security situation, the problems of Erbil – Baghdad and the continuing threat and threats of ISIS, and the two sides agreed that the assistance and support of the international coalition for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region is still necessary.
Barzani promised to visit the two British ministers to the Kurdistan Region in these circumstances during which the world is going through difficult times as a result of the outbreak of Corona virus, appreciated and a positive message, confirming the will and desire of the Kurdistan Region to strengthen its relations with Britain in all fields.
The two ministers announced that Britain will continue to assist and support the Kurdistan Region in facing terrorism until the final elimination of terrorism and the threat of ISIS, and it will also continue to help Erbil and Baghdad solve their problems.
