Emir of Qatar: We intend to invest $5 billion in a number of sectors in Iraq

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressed today, Thursday, his country’s intention to invest 5 billion US dollars, in a number of sectors within Iraq, in the coming years.
This came on the sidelines of an official visit he made to Iraq, according to the Qatar News Agency Qena.
In a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, the Emir of Qatar stressed his country’s continued support for Iraq and its people, stressing that his visit to Baghdad reflects the depth of brotherly and close relations between the two countries, and its desire to strengthen them in various fields.
The Emir of Qatar said he invites the Iraqi people to attend the Asian Football Cup, which will be held in Qatar, from January 12 to February 10, 2024.
For his part, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, noted at the press conference that “Qatar will remain one of our strongest allies and partners in the region, and remains a leading example of how a sustainable energy industry can be maintained.”
He pointed out that he discussed with Qatar in his talks with him, security and information cooperation, to maintain the security and stability of the region.
Al-Sudani added that the visit of the Emir of Qatar “carrys important connotations, and expresses the depth of the relationship between the two countries.”
The Emir of Qatar and the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, witnessed the signing of an air transport services agreement between the governments of their countries, and the maritime transport agreement between the governments of Qatar and Iraq, as well as the signing of a joint declaration of intent between the two countries, as well as a memorandum of understanding on canceling travel visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders between the governments of Qatar and Iraq.
On the sidelines of the visit, a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding were also signed by representatives of the private sector between the two sides, in the fields of infrastructure, tourism and health.
