The Danish Ministry of Defense announced, in a statement on Sunday, the withdrawal of all its military personnel from Iraq and Syria who participated in operations against the terrorist ISIS.

“The military leadership has decided to withdraw and return to Denmark, due to the fact that the number of terrorists from ISIS has decreased to the extent that there is no urgent need for our contribution, as well as because we need our troops in our country,” the Danish defense statement said.

“The force to counter the threats we see in our immediate vicinity today is more important to us,” Colonel Begark Lomburg, head of the Danish Air Defense Unit, the Air Control Wing Ward.

Earlier, US media reported that NATO is reviewing its defense policy due to the war in Ukraine.

According to US media, the new NATO strategy requires its allies in Eastern Europe not to wait for US support in the event of a Russian attack on their countries.
Denmark has been a member of the international coalition against ISIS since July 2014 and has 300 soldiers and military advisers in Iraq and Syria.
