President Fuad Masoumheld a meeting with theleaders of the politicalblocs , trying to come up with decisions to bring the blocks closer, and not to renew the crises after counting and sorting, and also discussed the crisis of demonstrations and the need to address them.
In a press conference after the meeting, Sherwan al-Waeli, the president’s advisor, said that the meeting “included discussing the demonstrations and the need to meet the citizens’ needs of public services, such as water and electricity and the treatment of unemployment, and the implementation of the decisions of the cabinet approved yesterday for the benefit of citizens.”
“The government has set three time periods to meet the demands of the demonstrators, the first period of one week to one month to handle the small projects, the second from one month to the year, and the third from One to three years. “
He pointed out that “the recommendation of those present at the meeting is the recognition of the results that will result from the counting and manual counting of the election results, until ratified by the Federal Court and then go to form a government and parliament.”
For his part, said the leader of the coalition of state law, Nuri al-Maliki, in a statement to a number of media, after the meeting, that “the meeting discussed several issues, the most important counting and manual sorting of the results of the elections, also discussed the demands of the demonstrators, which was agreed to be legitimate, “Noting that” the meeting stressed the need to protect state institutions, and prevent infiltrators in demonstrations, the burning of official institutions and party headquarters. “
He stressed that “it was stressed the need to work on the programs of the political blocs, to start addressing all things that are stalled, including the demands that need to take into account the state situation and structure, to meet them.”
The deputies explained that the meeting focused on avoiding the crisis expected for the results of manual counting and sorting, especially with the objection of some blocks on them.
“The meeting discussed the possibility of rapprochement between the political blocs and avoid the crisis of forming the government,” noting that “fears arise from a new crisis will arise after the announcement of the results of counting and manual sorting, especially with the objection of some blocks on it from now.”
He pointed out that “the president asked all leaders to accept the results of the elections, but did not get that,” likely “to hold other meetings before the announcement of the results, in an attempt to prevent any new crisis because of it.”
The fears of a new crisis, the announcement of the results of counting and sorting, in case of rejection of the blocks, which may cause the failure of the formation of the government.
