Shafaq News/ The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, discussed on Friday, with the US Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson, reform of the financial system and the banking sector.
A presidential statement received by Shafaq News Agency stated, “Barzani met with the Undersecretary of the US Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson, and the two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations and ways to support the reforms implemented by the Kurdistan Regional Government within the framework of the ninth ministerial formation.”

A Kurdistan government statement received by Shafaq News Agency on Friday stated that Barzani met (yesterday, Thursday) at the White House with McGurk, and they exchanged views on the latest developments in Iraq and the region, in addition to discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
The meeting also witnessed a mutual agreement on the importance of enhancing the protection of the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region, protecting the constitutional and federal entity of the region and preserving the rights of all its components.

Shafaq News/ The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed on Friday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan joint cooperation between the region and Ankara.
Barzani previously wrote in a tweet on the social networking site (X) Twitter, “I am pleased to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan this evening in Antalya.”
The President of the Kurdistan Region added: “We exchanged views on the latest events, strengthening economic cooperation between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with Turkey, and enhancing regional stability.”
According to a presidential statement received by Shafaq News Agency; The two sides discussed the possibilities and consequences of the tense situation in the region and developments in the war in Gaza, and stressed the importance of making comprehensive efforts and cooperation to resolve issues peacefully through dialogue and diplomatic opportunities.
Terrorist threats and several issues of common interest were another topic of the meeting, according to the statement.
Today, Friday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, made a visit to Turkey to participate in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
The forum’s activities will be launched under the slogan (Prominent Diplomacy in Preventing Crises), under the patronage of the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and in the presence of heads of state and ministers from more than 100 countries. The forum will last for three days, from the 1st to the 3rd of this month of March.
The regional presidency said in a statement that President Nechirvan Barzani will visit the Turkish city of Antalya today to attend the forum.
The statement added that the President of the Kurdistan Region will hold several meetings and meetings during the three-day forum with a number of participants and discuss relations and the situation in the region in general.
According to the statement, the participants will discuss the topics of war, terrorism, migration, the risks and consequences of climate change, natural disasters, and many other issues.

Shafaq News / Iraq Al-Future for Economic Studies and Consulting said on Friday that there are four banks in the private sector that accounted for more than 50% of the size of the Iraqi banking sector.
According to a report issued by the Foundation, the four banks are: the International Development Bank, the National Bank of Iraq, the Bank of Baghdad, and the Islamic Bank of South, followed by banks: the Iraqi Islamic Bank, the Investment Bank, the Commercial Region Bank, Al-Mansour Bank, Cihan Bank
The report pointed out that the above banks achieved growth during 2023, bringing the value of their assets to about 17 trillion Iraqi dinars, after they were in 2022 of 11.5 trillion Iraqi dinars.
The institution explained that this increase came as a result of the increase in deposits with these banks and the increase in dependence on the banking sector, especially in the field of foreign transactions.
The report continued, it is expected that the volume of assets for these banks during the five years to reach more than 40 trillion Iraqi dinars with the increase in dependence on the private banking sector at the expense of the public banking sector.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Al-Alaq, confirmed on Friday, the existence of great interest and interaction by Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, to urge state institutions to pay electronic payment, while he pointed out that the volume of funds collected from state institutions indicates the success of the electronic collection project.

He stressed that “the figures mentioned in the use of electronic payment indicate that the launch was very successful, and reflect that the subject is moving in the right direction by including all state institutions concerned with the electronic payment application.”
He explained that “the figures reflected all state institutions and provided electronic levies, and the size of the funds indicates success,” expressing his hope that “the circle of application will expand to include all private sectors.”
He pointed out that “there is a great response from the private and public concerned economic unions and bodies to proceed with this large national project and its multiple episodes,” stressing that “the central bank is working at multiple levels in order to reach important leaps.”

Shafaq News / The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masroor Barzani, on Friday called on US companies to invest in the agricultural, industry and tourism sectors in the region.
This came in a speech he gave during his meeting with the American Chamber of Commerce, businessmen and managers of American companies on the sidelines of his visit to Washington.
“We are now looking at how to invest in the agriculture, industry and tourism sectors, and see if other U.S. companies will come to consider the opportunities,” Masrour said in his speech, calling on foreign investors to attend and look at the thousands of investment opportunities available in the territory.
“Kurdistan has been an ideal place to invest, but it is not an easy place, especially since we have many enemies and common challenges,” he added, adding that “one of the reasons I am here today is that Kurdistan remains safe and strong with your support and help, together we can ensure that Kurdistan has a bright future.”
