Shafaq News / The Parliamentary Finance Committee ruled out, on Monday, the impact of the Iraqi government’s appeals on articles of the General Budget Law in the passage of the law, likely to start implementing its articles starting tomorrow.
“It is the appeals filed by the government on articles and paragraphs in the budget law that stop, not the budget law,” committee member MP Jamal Cougar told Shafaq News.
The cabinet session on Tuesday is likely to be the beginning of the launch and the implementation of the budget law in ministries and state institutions, Koger said.
Cougar stressed that the Ministry of Finance should be ready to implement the budget law, and we do not know the reasons for the delay in implementing the law.
On July 3, Federal Prime Minister Mohamed Al-Sudani filed an appeal with the Federal Supreme Court with a number of paragraphs of the budget law with a request from the court to issue (willy orders) to suspend the implementation of those articles after the law enters into force until the court decides to challenge the constitutionality of those articles.
On June 12, the Iraqi Council of Representatives voted on the financial budget for the three years (2023-2024-2025), worth 198.9 trillion Iraqi dinars ($153 billion) per year.
