Shafaq News / Ukraine announced, on Thursday, that it had reached an agreement on a temporary ceasefire with Russia, and the opening of safe corridors in the areas witnessing fighting between the two armies.
Earlier today, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the launch of a new round of negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations, and that the members of the two delegations shook hands before its launch.
In a press statement that followed the negotiations, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the Ukrainian presidential office, said that “an understanding was made with the Russian delegation during the negotiations, which included the establishment of safe corridors in the areas witnessing fighting in Ukraine, in addition to a temporary ceasefire.”
Podolyak added that “the two sides discussed in detail humanitarian issues,” noting that “the agreement was also reached on the delivery of medicines and food.”
He pointed out that “the negotiations did not achieve the result that he had hoped for, and that the dialogue will continue in the third round of negotiations, which is planned to be held as soon as possible.”
This comes at a time when the Russian forces have been continuing for eight days a “special” military operation inside Ukrainian territory, under the slogan “Protecting the Donbass Territory”, which includes Donetsk and Luhansk, the two countries recently recognized by Putin.
The European Union, the United States, Canada and Japan continue to respond to Putin’s move towards Ukraine, by imposing “unprecedented” economic sanctions on Russia, in addition to mobilizing military support for the “NATO” countries bordering Ukraine.
