An adviser to the Sudanese expects parliament to approve the budget schedules before Eid. And warns of the delay

{Economic: Euphrates News} The appearance of Mohammed Saleh, financial advisor to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, signed the approval by the House of Representatives of the financial budget schedules for 2024 before the Eid al-Adha holiday, which falls in the middle of next June

Saleh told {Euphrates News}, “He notes that the level of coordination and harmony between the legislative and executive authorities will accelerate the approval of the financial schedules of the year 2024 by the House of Representatives, in implementation of the provisions of Article 77/S of the Federal Public Budget Law (Tripartite) No. 13 of 2023.”

He added, “What is expected is that the House of Representatives will approve the financial schedules mentioned before the Eid al-Adha holiday as a maximum, according to what some members of the House of Representatives have noted.”

Saleh pointed out that “the delay affects the movement of investment spending for new projects that the government planned to promote and in accordance with its ministerial program to serve the achievement of the goals of sustainable economic development in our country.”

In an extraordinary session last Sunday, the Council of Ministers approved the 2024 budget schedules, while the Secretariat of the House of Representatives announced yesterday the receipt of the schedules.

The parliamentary finance committee began to discuss budget schedules, amid weightings to vote on them before June 9.

A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Alaa Al-Haidari, said in a press statement that “Parliament has the powers to pressure spending and transfer funds, and this is related to the views on the schedules of allocations of services to the provinces,” noting that “the Council has extended its legislative holiday pending budget schedules, and the remaining time period of the month, which was extended by the parliament is sufficient, and we expect the budget to vote on before June 9.”

The head of the Finance Committee, Atwan Al-Atwani, explained in a press statement that the committee “held continuous meetings to discuss the 2024 budget schedules and consider financial policy,” explaining that it will “add the ministers of finance and planning to discuss current and investment expenses and budget paragraphs related to securing the necessary needs for the citizen, contracts and appointments.”
