Shafaq News / Rafidain Bank decided, on Wednesday, to grant POS devices to all state institutions and the private sector free of charge.
The bank’s media office said in a statement to Shafaq News, “In line with the government program and the directive of Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani during the cabinet session that ministries and all departments should accelerate the implementation of points of sale with the electronic payment system (POS) and in support of the decisions of the Central Bank of Iraq to move to electronic cash starting from June 1, 2023), Rafidain Bank, in cooperation with the General Company for Smart Card, decided to grant (POS) devices to all state institutions and the private sector free of charge.”
The bank also decided, “providing technical and logistical support, supporting software, and training all technical cadres in exchange for (zero) commissions until the end of 2023, and on the responsibility of Rafidain Bank.”
Yesterday, Tuesday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani during the cabinet session directed ministries and all departments to accelerate the implementation of points of sale with the electronic payment system (POS) and make strenuous efforts to do so.
The Council of Ministers also approved the authorization of government agencies to pay the electronic payment commission for the amounts they collect (for wages, fees, fines and sales) according to the commission rates approved by the Central Bank of Iraq for payment by electronic cards.
The Council also approved the authorization of government agencies to pay the commission of the completed amounts (as taxes), of all kinds by electronic payment, and according to the commission rates approved by the Central Bank of Iraq to pay by cards.
