 * The US Federal Reserve summons the Director General of Banking Control at the Central Bank, and she goes with an interpreter, along with a statement and information on all Iraqi banks.

 * The Governor of the Central Bank and the Director General of Investment with the Compliance Department of the Central Bank of Iraq went urgently to Amman to meet a delegation from the US Treasury a week ago, and Iraqi officials were (rebuked) for suspicious transfers in the currency auction over the past year.

 * All the talk revolves around what the federal and US treasury audits of currency sales witnessed during the current year (for a daily sale rate of more than $250 million) discovered that many of the transfers were intended to smuggle and launder money.

 * The initial decision of the US Treasury was to freeze four banks (the Middle East, the clutch, Al-Ansari, and Asia).

 * The current hidden is that there are suspicions of the work of 14 other banks during the past year, the discussion is taking place around it, and the Central Bank is trying to delay or stop the treasury procedures against these banks because depriving other banks in addition to the current four means the collapse of the Iraqi banking system.

 * The current sales of the auction, especially (remittances), are fully audited by the federation, and every day a group of remittances is returned, and this is the main reason for the rise in the price of the dollar because the price is linked to the remittance and not to cash. Therefore, the bank’s procedure to increase the exchange companies’ share of the cash remains a helpless and unscientific procedure.

 * The most dangerous thing is that there are leaks currently circulating that the US Treasury has given signals to the Central Bank that it will reduce the amount of dollars (cash cash) granted to the Central Bank in the future because it is against the policy of increasing cash cash in the Iraqi market for fear that this cash will reach groups, countries and others … and this will also affect the coming days On the amount of cash in the market and thus will inevitably affect the exchange rate.

 * It is clear that the current administration of the Central Bank as a whole (chairman and directors) has become internationally unreliable and its impact will focus on the poor citizen.

 * Iraq will pay the price for the options that the leaders of the financial, monetary and economic institutions are subject to partisan quotas away from competence, integrity and transparency.

And the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) stated that the visit comes at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and in order to strengthen the historical relations and the distinguished strategic partnership that unites the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People’s Republic of China.

During the visit, a Saudi-Chinese summit will be held, chaired by King Salman and President Xi, with the participation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The visit program will include the presence of the President of China, the “Riyadh-Gulf-Chinese Summit for Cooperation and Development” and the “Riyadh-Chinese Arab Summit for Cooperation and Development”, with the participation of leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and Arab countries, including Iraq, “based on the distinguished relations that bind the GCC countries.” to the Arab Gulf states and the Arab countries” with China, according to the agency.

And the Saudi Press Agency reported that more than 20 preliminary agreements will be signed with a value exceeding 110 billion riyals, equivalent to about $29 billion, in addition to the signing of the strategic partnership document between the Kingdom and China, and the harmonization plan between the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the Belt and Road Initiative, as will be announced. About the launch of the Mohammed bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China.

And the media of the Ministry of Planning stated in a statement received by {Euphrates News}, that “during the meeting, they discussed the role of the development banking sector and financing investment projects, within the framework of working to achieve partnership between the public and private sectors.” 

The meeting also witnessed a discussion of the mechanisms for activating the Private Sector Development Council, which is chaired by the Minister of Planning, and the need to work on enacting a law for this council due to its importance in supporting and empowering the private sector, which has many tasks ahead of it.

In addition, Al-Handal and the members of the delegation reviewed the most prominent social and economic activities that are being implemented by the Association of Iraqi Private Banks in Baghdad and a number of governorates, as well as addressing the future prospects for the banking sector in Iraq.

World Bank: The Iraqi economy is witnessing great growth

The World Bank confirmed, today, Wednesday, that the Iraqi economy is witnessing a significant growth of 10.5 percent, while referring to the increase in the productivity of the non-oil sector in Iraq.
The bank said, “The Iraqi economy is witnessing a significant growth that reached (10.5%) during the first half of the year 2022 compared to a growth rate that reached (2.8%) in 2021,” noting that “the high rate of oil production and export quantities and global prices had a A major role in this increase in addition to increasing the productivity of the non-oil sector in Iraq.
He added, “The increase in public revenues represents an important opportunity that supports the future prospects of the Iraqi economy towards diversifying the economy and increasing the contribution of non-oil sectors to the gross domestic product,” explaining that “despite the favorable development opportunities in Iraq, the Iraqi economy is still suffering from problems.” Many are looking for urgent solutions to sustain resilience and economic growth, including the water crisis and climate challenges.
While the Central Bank of Iraq affirmed, “its monetary policy seeks to achieve stability and economic growth by using various monetary policy tools, both traditional and unconventional,” noting that “its various initiatives, whose amount exceeded (18) trillion dinars, contributed to providing appropriate financing on soft terms for many projects.” Small, medium and large to support the private sector and economic diversification, including an amount of (1) trillion dinars to finance the purchase of renewable energy systems for individuals and projects. The Central Bank of Iraq discussed, on Wednesday, with the IMF mission aspects of bilateral cooperation and its development.

The media office of the Central Bank said in a statement that “the governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb is scary, received the Minister of Finance Taif Sami and the IMF mission that is currently visiting the capital Baghdad.”

He added that “during the meeting, they discussed the main policy challenges and aspects of bilateral cooperation and their development in order to serve the banking and economic sector in Iraq as well as to enhance financial stability.”

It is noteworthy that the Central Bank of Iraq will host on Wednesday and Thursday the meetings of the IMF mission in the capital Baghdad with the participation of the Ministry of Finance and representatives of the Ministries of Planning, Electricity, Labor, Water Resources and Environment.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced on Wednesday that a second regional summit on Iraq will be held in Amman on December 20, expecting the participation of Iran and Turkey in it.

“The second edition Baghdad conference will be held in Amman on the 20th of this month,” Hussein said at a joint press conference with the foreign ministers of Jordan and Egypt.

“At the first conference in Baghdad, Turkey and Iran participated, and we expect them to also participate in the next conference,” he added.

The most prominent statements of the Iraqi Foreign Minister:

– This partnership and cooperation conference was held mainly to support Iraq and continue its support, and when we talk about supporting Iraq and the continuity of supporting Iraq by the countries participating in this conference, this also means supporting Iraq’s sovereignty.

– There are great challenges facing us, challenges related to food security, pharmaceutical security and energy security and because they are challenges that transcend the borders of the homeland, we need regional and international relations to face these challenges.

– He talked about “many interventions” in Iraq, and said, “In this regard, we are in constant dialogue with these countries to solve these problems, including problems dating back to the past and problems due to the presence of some political organizations from these countries on Iraqi soil.”

– We have obligations related to the Iraqi constitution not to allow any organization to use Iraqi territory to attack neighboring countries, but at the same time no attack on Iraqi territory by neighboring countries can be accepted.

– We are in constant contact with the two capitals (Tehran and Ankara) to find solutions to protect Iraq’s sovereignty, and to prevent these organizations from carrying out operations against neighboring countries.

For his part, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that “the Baghdad conference was held to support Iraq and therefore the main title of this conference is how we work together to support brotherly Iraq.”

“We are now preparing to host the second edition of the conference this month and the goal is to continue the momentum that began at the Baghdad conference in order to stand by brotherly Iraq,” he explained.

The Elysee Palace announced on Sunday the holding of a regional summit in Jordan “before the end of the year”, bringing together Iraq and neighboring countries with the participation of France similar to the Baghdad conference on August 28, 2021, in light of tension with Iran and Turkey.

The announcement came after a phone call between Macron and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani on Sunday.

The first conference, held in Baghdad, France, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iran and Turkey, participated.

Shafaq News/ The head of the UN Assistance mission in Iraq (UNAMI), Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, on Wednesday met with Iraq’s top Shiite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, in the southern city of Najaf.

Al-Sistani, 92, is considered the most important clerical authority for millions of Iraqi Shiites, as well as millions of others across the Shiite world. He lives in Najaf, which is home to the Hawza Najaf, the oldest Shiite seminary in the world.

In statements to reporters after the meeting, Plasschaert commended al-Sistani’s support for “peaceful coexistence” in Iraq, expressing gratitude for receiving her today. 

The UN High-Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Angel Moratinos, said he conveyed the greetings of the UN secretary-general ans Pope Francis to Ayatollah al-Sistani. 

Moratinos reiterated in his statements to reporters after the meeting the UN upholds “national reconciliation” and “protecting civilizations” in Iraq.

The cleric rarely meets with foreign officials, although famously met Pope Francis during his visit to Iraq in spring 2021, when he also visited the war-damaged city of Mosul. He seldom comments on political events in Iraq, leading a quietist clergy that follows a policy of refraining from siding with any political party.

But he is widely considered a political moderate and has made statements in the past that some analysts have interpreted as being against established political parties in Iraq, indirectly criticising them for corruption and mismanagement. He has also spoken out against violence against civilians, be it at the hands of foreign forces, Iraqi security forces or terrorist groups.

His Eminence Mr. Sistani (Let’s stay) received this afternoon Mr. Miguel Angel Moratinos, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations in charge of developing the Plan of Action of the International Organization for the Protection of Religious Sites after the attacks it has suffered in various places in the world in recent years.

His Eminence listened to his explanation about that plan and the principles on which it is based and the procedures followed.
During the meeting, His Eminence stressed the importance of concerted efforts in promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence, renouncing violence and hatred, and consolidating the values of harmony based on the care of rights and mutual respect between adherents of different religions and intellectual trends.
His Eminence pointed out that the tragedies suffered by many peoples and ethnic and social groups in many parts of the world as a result of the intellectual and religious persecution, suppression of fundamental freedoms and lack of social justice play a role in the emergence of some extremist movements that use blind violence against unarmed civilians and attack religious centers and archaeological sites of others who disagree with them in thought or belief.
His Eminence stressed the need to address the backgrounds of these unacceptable and condemned phenomena in all cases, and to work hard to achieve a measure of justice and tranquility in various societies befitting human dignity as God Almighty wanted it, which contributes to reducing the atmosphere conducive to the spread of extremist ideas.
