The Independent/- Economic circles have blessed the opening of a branch of the International Development Bank in Dubai, considering it a positive step on the path to developing the financial sector in Iraq.

A member of the Baghdad Economic Forum Jassem Al-Aradi described the opening of the Development Bank branch as an important step in being closely involved with international banks, given that Dubai hosts the best banks in the region and the world, pointing out that this friction adds something new to the performance of the Iraqi banking sector through the best representative of the Development Bank International.

At the time, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb, praised the efforts of the International Development Bank, and blessed the opening of the bank’s branch in Dubai

Ghaleb pointed out that it is an important step, as a private Iraqi bank occupies an important position within the UAE and Iraqi banking sector after obtaining the confidence of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.

A ceremony was organized on this occasion, attended by the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, the Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Economy, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the Union of Arab Banks, the Association of Iraqi Private Banks, the ambassadors of countries accredited to the state, the Iraqi embassy, and a large number of Iraqi and foreign businessmen and investors at all levels.

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Republic reviewed the results of his participation in the Arab Summit held in Algeria and the United Nations Climate Summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, where they talked about the outcomes of the two summits and the results of the meetings that took place between His Excellency the President of the Republic, leaders of brotherly and friendly countries and heads of participating delegations.

A number of issues related to the general situation in the country were also discussed, and it was stressed the need for everyone to support the government’s steps within its service program, which would improve the economic situation and achieve the aspirations of all the people for a free and dignified life.

The importance of combating corruption and creating a suitable environment for investment that would encourage the private sector to play its role in supporting the national economy and creating job opportunities to employ young energies was emphasized.


The President and the Prime Minister discussed the issue of water, and agreed to coordinate fully in finding appropriate solutions and to continue holding meetings on a regular basis, and the President of the Republic to conduct field visits to the concerned governorates, accompanied by a number of ministers.

The Democrat: The Kurdish government delegation will discuss 4 files in Baghdad

The Kurdistan Democratic Party confirmed today, Saturday, that the Kurdish government delegation will discuss 4 files during its upcoming visit to Baghdad, which it said will take place soon, while stressing the continuation of differences with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan regarding the environment and reconstruction portfolios in the federal government.
“The date of the visit of the Kurdish government delegation has not yet been determined, and the necessary arrangements are awaited,” said Sharif Suleiman, a deputy from the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
He added, “The delegation will discuss several files contained in the political agreement paving the way for the formation of the government and its ministerial platform, including: the Kurdistan region’s share in the 2023 budget, the benefits of the Peshmerga, Article 140 of the constitution, and the Sinjar Agreement.”
He added that “Baghdad and Erbil are committed to developing appropriate solutions to the outstanding issues between them, and the Kurdish delegation will arrive soon, and there are some measures that are currently being worked on in preparation for the visit.”
He added that “the share of the Kurdistan region in the 2023 budget is determined by the population ratio, and we hope that it will be fair and suit everyone,” noting that “the oil file in the region will be decided by the legislation of the oil and gas law, and the political agreement before the formation of the government stipulated the completion of its legislation within a period ranging from 3-7 months from the date of forming the government.
And on the two governmental environment and reconstruction portfolios, which are waiting for the Kurds to agree on their nomination, Suleiman explained that “the two positions are from the Kurds’ share, and electoral weight must be taken into account in their decision, and we are waiting for the agreement of the Democrats and the Kurdistan Union on them, and the dispute over the two positions is still ongoing.” Ended 29 / h

Shafaq News/ A Kurdish official revealed today, Saturday, that a government delegation from Kurdistan Region headed by Finance Minister Awat Sheikh Janab will arrive in the federal capital of Baghdad next week, to enter into negotiations for the region’s share in the general budget 2023.    

The head of the representation of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Faris Issa, told Shafaq News that “a delegation from the regional government headed by Finance Minister Awat Sheikh Janab is scheduled to visit the federal capital, Baghdad, to discuss Kurdistan’s share in the draft general budget law for the year 2023.”

And that “the delegation of the region will visit Baghdad this week to meet with the Federal Minister of Finance and discuss the region’s share, which according to the Ministry of Planning data represents 13.9%, and it serves as a criterion for determining the proportion of the Kurdistan Region in the general budget.”

He pointed out that “the draft budget law is currently in the process of study and preparation by the Federal Ministry of Finance, and after its completion, it will be referred to the Ministerial Economic Council, and after studying it, it will be sent to the Council of Ministers for a vote and sent to the House of Representatives.”

And on Thursday, a spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government announced the formation of a ministerial delegation to engage in negotiations with the federal government on outstanding problems, including the oil and gas law, as well as the budget law, and referred to the agreement with Baghdad to spend the budget and give the share of the Kurdistan Region in accordance with the constitution.

The delegation consists of: the Minister of Finance and Economy, the Acting Minister of Natural Resources, the Head of the Cabinet Office, the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, the Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Department, and the Spokesperson for the Government of the Territory.

The Council recommended the delegation start discussions as soon as possible within the framework of constitutional rights and cabinet decisions on outstanding issues, with an emphasis on the implementation of the federal government program and the political agreement that was voted on in the Iraqi parliament, according to a statement issued by the Council.
