Shafaq News/ The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on Friday, the supporters of the coordination framework to support the sit-in and demonstration of the followers of the movement, calling for the dissolution of parliament, holding early elections and “fighting corruption”.
This came in a statement by Al-Sadr, in conjunction with a scheduled demonstration for supporters of the coordination framework this Friday afternoon, on the doorstep of the Green Zone, and in the governorates of Basra and Nineveh.
Al-Sadr said in a statement, “According to my understanding, we and the tire community do not disagree on the existence of corruption and its prevalence in the country, and if we disagree with its leaders on that, the reform camp in its demonstrations is demonstrating for you as well, the tire fans. In order to save the homeland, which has been held captive by occupation, terrorism and corruption.”
He added, “Then, let your demonstrations be a victory for reform, not a victory for the prestige of the state and governments that came to Iraq without any desired benefit.”
He said, “Don’t you want your dignity, freedom, security, sustenance, safety, and well-being, as we demand!? Is it reasonable that you do not take inspiration from your Imam Hussein for reform and the overthrow of the (Yazid) state? We did not try to demonstrate and sit in parallel with you, despite our ability to do so. If you decide to demonstrate in conjunction with the reform demonstrations, let your demonstrations be peaceful and preserve civil peace.
Al-Sadr continued, “In general, our hands are extended to you, the masses of the framework, without its leaders, to try to reform what has been corrupted, following the approach of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and the approach of our reference, al-Sadr, his pure soul sanctified.
