{Local: Al-Furat News} National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji expressed, on Wednesday, that Iraq welcomed the killing of Al-Qaeda leader, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, noting “the need for pressure to continue on Al-Qaeda and ISIS, to rid the world of the evil and criminality of terrorism.”
And his media office said in a statement received by {Euphrates News} that “the latter resigned in his office today, Wednesday, the American ambassador in Baghdad, Alina Romanowski, and during the meeting, they discussed the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the region, and joint cooperation in the field of combating terrorism,” expressing welcome Iraq with the killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
While noting the need for “pressure to continue on al-Qaeda and ISIS, to rid the world of the evil and criminality of terrorism, al-Araji also expressed Iraq’s welcome to extend the armistice in Yemen.”
Al-Araji stressed to the US ambassador, “The Iraqis are able to solve their political problems, as they are an internal Iraqi affair, and we are working to create conditions for a national dialogue within an Iraqi accord that injects Iraqi blood and preserves a united Iraq.”
For her part, the US ambassador stressed that “her country is looking forward to forming a strong Iraqi government that is able to maintain its sovereignty and is open to the international community,” noting that “the United States will not interfere in the choice of the Iraqi people and that it is up to the Iraqis alone, expressing her hope that the relationship between the two countries will go beyond. Security cooperation has led to a more developed relationship in the commercial, economic and health aspects, stressing her country’s commitment to work with any strong Iraqi government chosen by the Iraqis.
