Shafaq News/ On Wednesday, a security source said that demonstrators belonging to the Sadrist movement who stormed the Green Zone were injured.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, “The security forces fired tear gas in an attempt to drive away the demonstrators.”

He pointed out, “There was heavy shooting inside the Green Zone as the demonstrators advanced, in addition to the firing of smoke bombs.”

Earlier today, Wednesday, dozens of supporters of the Sadrist movement gathered in Tahrir Square in the center of the capital, Baghdad, to demonstrate against the nomination of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani by the Shiite coordination framework for the position of Prime Minister in the next government.

Our correspondent said that dozens of Sadrists crossed the Jumhuriya Bridge towards the Green Zone to express their rejection of Al-Sudani’s nomination.

He pointed out that the security forces tightened their procedures around the perimeter of Tahrir Square and the entrance to the Green Zone from the side of the Legislation Gate.
