Shafaq News/ The latest news about the selection of candidates for the position of the next Iraqi prime minister reported today, Wednesday, that seven names were presented by the leaders of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki and the Fatah Alliance, Hadi al-Amiri.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, that the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, presented 3 candidates to the committee tasked with choosing the prime minister in the Shiite coordination framework, and they are:
1. Tariq Najm
2. Muhammed Shiaa Al Sudani
3. Ali Shukri
Meanwhile, the leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi Al-Amiri presented four names to the committee:
1. Haider Al-Abadi
2. Qassem Al-Araji
3. Faleh Al-Fayyad
4. Abdulhussain Abtan
The source indicated that the committee held a meeting today to study these names and will continue its meeting tomorrow, Thursday, to submit a report on them to the leadership body in the Shiite coordination framework.
Yesterday, Tuesday, the framework meeting ended at Hammam Hammoudi’s house with the formation of a committee to select candidates for the position of Prime Minister, comprising the Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Qais Khazali, the head of the Wisdom Movement Ammar al-Hakim, the head of the Supreme Council, Hammam Hammoudi, and the representative of the Virtue Party Abdul-Sada al-Fariji.
A leader in the framework told Shafak News Agency that the committee is determined to submit its final report to the framework leadership.
And about the mechanism for selecting the candidate, he indicated that it will be through a secret ballot within the framework, stressing that “the framework’s representatives are the only ones who participate in that ballot.
