Shafaq News/ On Thursday, the Sadrist bloc’s representatives put their resignations from the Iraqi parliament at the disposal of the movement’s leader, Muqtada al-Sadr.

Earlier today, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, directed members of his parliamentary bloc to write their resignations in preparation for submitting them to the parliament’s presidency.

Al-Sadr said in a televised speech today, “If the survival of the Sadrist bloc is an obstacle to forming a government, all the bloc’s deputies are ready to resign.”

Al-Sadr renewed his refusal to form the next Iraqi government on the principle of consensus, and said, “These are two options: either the opposition, or the withdrawal, and in general, Iraq does not need an absolute government, but rather an absolute government with a majority that serves its people and restores its prestige.”

Shafaq News / A source in the coordination framework stated, on Thursday evening, that a delegation headed by the leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi Al-Amiri, will visit Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region, tomorrow.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, “The framework delegation led by Al-Amiri will hold dialogues with the Kurdistan Democratic Party and other Kurdish forces, regarding the political blockage and the process of forming the new government.”

This visit comes in the wake of the threat of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to remain in the opposition or completely withdraw from the political process, unless a national majority government is formed, especially after he directed earlier today, members of his parliamentary bloc, to write their resignations in preparation for submitting them to the parliament’s presidency. .

As a result, the Sovereignty Alliance held a consultative meeting in communication with the Kurdistan Democratic Party, to discuss al-Sadr’s recent speech, which included several options for his parliamentary bloc affiliated with the tripartite “Save the Homeland” coalition, according to a source in the coalition who informed the agency.

A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Wafa Muhammad Karim, suggested that there would be a move by Barzani and Al-Khanjar, to discuss with Al-Sadr about what he proposed, especially since the Democrat and Sovereignty, have previously confirmed more than once and with official statements, that they will be with Al-Sadr in all cases.

American pessimism about Iraq .. “personal revenge” and “the question of existence” between Shiite forces closed the doors

Shafaq News/ The US “Associated Press” agency has raised what it described as the “dangerous stalemate” in the post-election phase, as the country has been without a new government for 8 months and there is no clear way out of the impasse while the political forces are engaged in intense competition for power despite the challenges. The growing situation facing Iraq.

And after he drew the American report, which was translated by Shafak News Agency; Noting that among the growing crises facing Iraqis, the impending food crisis caused by severe drought and the war in Ukraine, he considered that for ordinary Iraqi citizens, everything is always delayed, noting, for example, that the caretaker government is not able to make payments Vital electricity or plans to invest in the sector with the advent of the summer months, investments related to water infrastructure have been disrupted, and water shortages and concerns about food security have fueled anger among Iraqis.

While the report referred to the October 10 elections, which were in response to popular demonstrations protesting against corruption, poor services and unemployment, it stated that the election results achieved victory for the cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, and dealt a blow to his Iranian-backed opponents, who lost about a third of their seats.

The report also referred to what it called the long-term “personal revenge” between the Shiite forces, at a time when al-Sadr and his allies stood on one front, in contrast to the “coordinating framework” consisting of Shiite forces and personalities backed by Iran and other allies, while independent deputies were concentrated in the middle. They suffer from division as well, in light of the attempts by the competing forces in order to win them over to any party.

The report quoted the American researcher at the Century Foundation, Sajjad Jiyad, as saying that “the issue is not about power, but about survival.”

The report stated that the anger of the Iraqi citizens is increasing in light of the rise in food prices and the deterioration of the phenomenon of interruptions in the electrical service, recalling the incident that Al-Kazemi was forced to leave the funeral of the poet Muzaffar Al-Nawab recently due to anti-government chants, and also recalling what the United Nations representative in Iraq, Jenin Hennis-Plasschaert, said recently, heading To Iraqi political leaders that “the streets are on the verge of boiling.”

While al-Sadr was unable to garner enough support from parliamentarians to obtain the two-thirds majority needed to elect a new president of the republic before naming a new prime minister, the report made it clear that the “majority government” is the first of its kind since the unanimous sharing system was introduced after the US invasion. In 2003, it would exclude Shiite rivals backed by Iran who are lumped in the “coordinating framework”.

While the report referred to the long-standing rivalry between al-Sadr and former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, and between al-Sadr and Qais al-Khazali, it pointed out the existence of a “paradox” in that the current impasse is a partial result of the parties’ distance from sectarian groups, explaining In the past, it was the Shiite alliances that formed a united front in order to go to negotiate with the Sunni and Kurdish blocs, but this time the alliances that transcend sectarian lines, which has fueled tensions within each sect.

In the absence of agreement between the forces, the report points to fears of violent demonstrations or armed confrontations, recalling a speech by al-Sadr on May 16, in which he vowed not to conclude a deal with his rivals, alluding to the capabilities of the “Saraya al-Salam” militia, which recently opened the doors to recruits joining in Diyala and Babil governorates.

The report added that militia leaders spoke in their own sessions about fears that the stalemate would ignite demonstrations in the streets, adding that Iraq had previously witnessed long political struggles between competing forces regarding the presidency of the republic and the government, but the current competition is considered the “longest so far.” .

On the role of independent representatives, the report mentioned; The independents, who came from the parties emanating from the protest movement of 2019 and ran in the elections with an extension list to win nine seats in the new parliament, have lost their way after they pledged to turn into a strong opposition force in order to represent the demands of the demonstrators in Parliament.

After the report stated that the movement’s leader, Alaa al-Rikabi, suspended his position after a number of members resigned in protest of his vote in favor of the election of Muhammad al-Halbousi to the presidency of parliament, a spokesman for the “extension” of Rasoul al-Saray was quoted as saying that the two competing Shiite blocs now want to use the independents to “cover their failure to form the government”.

The American report, quoting independents who refused to reveal their identities for fear of their safety, said that some of the independents indicated that they were exposed to threats and that they feared for their lives, and that one of them indicated that he had received offers of tens of thousands of dollars in bribes to join the anti-Sadr bloc.

The report concluded by saying; In light of the decline in the possibilities of forming a consensus government, some have put forward the option of organizing new elections, but Jiyad, a researcher at the Century Foundation, does not agree with this possibility. “.
