Shafaq News/ The meeting, which was held in the presence of the President of the Kurdistan Region, in Erbil, on Thursday, between representatives of the Kurdish political forces and parties and the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Blaskharat, provided an opportunity for discussion and exchange of views on the future of the electoral process in the region scheduled to take place in October next.

A statement issued by the United Nations in Iraq (UNAMI), reported to Shafaq News Agency, stated that “the meeting was held at the United Nations office in Erbil, at the invitation of the UN envoy, Jenin Plascharat, to discuss the electoral process in the Kurdistan Region.”

According to the statement, Blaskharat expressed her thanks to the Kurdish parties participating in the meeting, and urged them to “continue and intensify efforts to address the multiple challenges facing the Kurdistan Region.”

The meeting, which was held at the United Nations office in Erbil, the capital of the region, was attended by the delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party headed by Fadel Mirani, Secretary of the Political Bureau of the party, and the delegation of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by Bafel Talabani.

Omar Syed Ali, the general coordinator of the Change Movement, Salah al-Din Babiker, who headed the delegation of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Ali Babir, who headed the Kurdistan Justice delegation, and Badria Ibrahim, who headed the delegation of the New Generation Movement, also attended.

Earlier, UNAMI called the Kurdish parties to hold a meeting to discuss the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region.

It is likely that the agreement will be announced and the outstanding issues between the two parties will be resolved by the end of next week.

Al-Sorji said in a statement to “Information”, that “the closed meeting that took place yesterday in Sulaymaniyah between the head of the Political Bureau of the National Union, Pavel Talabani, the Deputy Chairman of the Political Bureau of the Democratic Party and the President of the Region, Nechirvan Barzani, led to an agreement to form a committee of the political bureaucrats of the two parties to resolve outstanding issues.” .

He added that “Barzani and Talabani authorized the committee to agree on naming a specific person for the position of President of the Republic and resolve the remaining outstanding issues between the two main parties,” likely that “the agreement will be announced and the outstanding issues between the two parties will be resolved by the end of next week.”

Shafaq News/ Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi considered, on Thursday, that Iraq has become one of the most important countries in the Middle East in terms of economic growth.

This came in his speech during his attendance at the launch of the National Strategy for Early Childhood Development in Iraq (2022-2031).

Al-Kazemi said during the speech, “This government came in difficult and complex circumstances with specific tasks, and it performed them, which is the establishment of fair and fair elections, and with this we took the initiative in order to create better economic and security conditions, and the government succeeded after we were on the brink of economic collapse.”
