Baghdad / Obelisk: The Prime Minister directed the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, on Friday, January 21, 2022, to conduct an urgent investigation into the terrorist incident in Al-Azim district, Diyala.

The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, said in a statement that “Al-Kazemi directed an urgent investigation into the terrorist incident that resulted in the death of 11 fighters, including an officer from the 1st Company in the 2nd Infantry Brigade of the 1st Division of the Iraqi army in the Umm al-Karami area in the Azim district in the province. Diyala”.

He added, “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has ordered to adhere to the highest levels of preparedness to defeat the plans of terrorist groups, to carry out major operations in the areas used by members of the terrorist organization ISIS, and to move quickly to inflict just retribution against the terrorists who committed this cowardly act and pursue them wherever they are.”

And he continued, “Al-Kazemi confirmed that these cowardly terrorist acts will increase the armed forces’ determination to pursue the pockets of the insidious ISIS organization and eradicate its remnants from everywhere on the land of Iraq.”
