Shafaq News/ After nearly three months of controversy, the page of Iraq’s parliamentary election has been turned to open the chapter of the largest bloc head-butting in a quest to form the next government.
It seems that Nouri al-Maliki’s State of Law bloc is counting on the dialogue scheduled to take place soon between the Coordination Framework’s delegation and the Sadrist bloc, an informed source close to al-Hannana, al-Sadr’s residence in Najaf, said. However, the largest may not include all the Shiite forces as he aspires, given that some of the Framework’s parties do not approve the government program al-Sadr seeks to implement.
“The Sadrist bloc might release a few bombs in the next few days, including the true number of Sadrist MPs and the migration of leading figures in the State of Law coalition to the Sadrist bloc,” a source told Shafaq News agency.
“If the Sadrist bloc failed to reach an agreement with the forces of the Coordination Framework, it has a near-final understanding with Mohammad al-Halboosi’s Takaddom bloc and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (K.D.P.) led by Masoud Barzani. Those, in addition to Independent MPs and some of the Framework’s forces who approve the Sadrist program, are sufficient to assemble the largest bloc and comfortably lead the formation of the new government,” the source added.
“The Framework forces are trying to exert pressure on the Sadrist bloc to loosen its stance in exchange for joining him in a unified Shiite front. Among these conditions, choosing a consensual prime minister and turning a blind eye to some corruption files.”
“A forthcoming meeting will bring al-Sadr and al-Amiri together in which the latter may only represent his bloc [al-Fatah],” the source added, “the distribution of positions and ministerial portfolios will be based on electoral weight rather than partisanship. Furthermore, the chances of Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi being re-elected are less than 20%.”
“Every detail may hide a surprise. This may apply to the last moment ahead of announcing the government,” the source added.
According to Bahaa al-Nouri, spokesperson to the State of Law coalition, the political blocs are now bound by the constitutional deadlines after the ratification of the results by the Supreme Court. “They shall settle in their alliances and form the largest bloc 15 days from the ratification of the results.”
“The Framework’s committee in charge of negotiating with the political parties will hold a meeting with the Sadrist bloc to settle the issue of the largest bloc and the division of labor in accordance with the electoral entitlements, ” al-Nouri told Shafaq News agency.
“The new era that began with the Federal Court’s ratification of the results will render the negotiations between the Framework and the Sadrists clearer and more committed. Those talks will either end up with an agreement to form the largest bloc or end in vain. Whatever the outcome is, the bloc with the largest number of seats will be deemed the largest bloc, and it will form the government.”
The leading figure in the State of Law Coalition, Gatah al-Rikabi, said that the Coordination Framework is leading an effort to establish a formula to choose the candidates for the state’s top positions.
Al-Rikabi said that the Shiite forces consortium assembled a committee that will hold meetings with the influential political forces in the country.
“The committee has already met with the leaders of the Azm alliance,” al-Rikabi said, “it will hold meetings with Takaddom, the Kurdish parties, and the Sadrist movement soon.”
“In the next few days, the largest bloc will be formed with Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish parties on board. An inclusive government that does not exclude anyone,” he continued, “the majority government, the brothers in the Sadrist movement, are calling for is unfeasible at the moment. However, the circumstances are not set to its formation. It will include some Shiite forces and Sunni and Kurdish forces. The remaining will end up outside the government.”
“The movement towards the political forces now aims to find a consensual formula to choose the President of the Republic, Prime Minister, and Parliament Speaker. An agreement shall be made ahead of the parliament’s first session,” he concluded.
And the private office of Al-Sadr stated in a statement that “Nass” received a copy of it, (December 30, 2021), “Today, Thursday, December 30, 2021, Mr. Muqtada Al-Sadr received a phone call from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, who congratulated the Muqtada al-Sadr on the victory of the Sadrist bloc in the legislative parliamentary elections that took place in Iraq recently.
The statement added, “The two sides discussed the most important common issues between the two countries and ways to strengthen cooperation to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples and the region, and stressed the survival of Iraq within its Arab extension and the need for the continuation and permanence of the relationship between the two countries.”
Baghdad – Mawazine News , Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi announced, on Thursday, the achievements made by his government at the end of the Gregorian year. Below is the most important thing that came in the speech of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, in the cabinet session that took place today, Thursday: 🔵 Today we are in the last days of the current year, and every year and you are a thousand good, you and your families and all our Iraqi people in every part of the land of Iraq. 🔵 During the year and a half of the life of this government, we have passed through great challenges, we have succeeded in overcoming them, and some of them required more time. 🔵 All the achievements that have been achieved have been achieved with the support of all the ministers, as well as with the support of our honorable Iraqi people, their patience, wisdom and endurance in these circumstances, and what we have succeeded in is cherished and we will protect it, and that the next government works with what can protect this approach. The White Paper for Reform is one of these achievements, as it provided many financial returns to the state, and despite some attempts to confuse it, but it was approved by many national sectors in industry and agriculture and in maximizing state revenues and cash reserves. 🔵 As a result of the white paper, despite the difficult circumstances, the Corona pandemic and the collapse of oil prices, and we were on the verge of the collapse of the political and social system, but we succeeded in providing more than $ 12 billion from the reserves of the Central Bank of Iraq, and raising the global credit rating of Iraq internationally. 🔵 Iraq was close to being classified as a rogue state, but we succeeded in foreign relations, and within a short period, Iraq regained much of its regional, international, Arab and Islamic role, and we succeeded in improving our relations, as well as in embracing more than one meeting of brothers, friends and neighbors on the land of Baghdad. The land of peace. 🔵 We succeeded in taming the atmosphere regionally, and our international relations succeeded in bringing our views closer and sparing the region from the effects of a war that, God forbid, may be devastating to Iraq and the region. 🔵 We have worked hard to protect our people from the Corona epidemic, even though this crisis is an international crisis, and we have provided the best vaccines for the Iraqi people, and we are still continuing to employ the best companies to work in this field. 🔵 Our work in the field of energy, and for the first time, we worked to rely on clean energy, and we changed the name of the ministry to the Ministry of Electricity and Alternative Energy, and we signed many contracts with companies interested in alternative energy and clean energy such as solar energy, in order to be an opportunity to conform with the changes of the times. 🔵 Yes, there were some challenges that we did not succeed in, due to economic conditions, and because of political conditions, and we will certainly re-address these matters in the future, and we will present a paper to the next government on the measures that can benefit from our experience that pertains to some of the difficult challenges we went through and what We diagnosed him with failures; To cross to safety. 🔵 Our relationship with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq during this government was the best since 2003, and we are proud of this relationship, tensions were few and we had many interpretations, and thank God through dialogue and building elements of trust, we succeeded in crossing this tense relationship in the best possible way. 🔵 I say to all the honorable Iraqi people, we need to secure the future by believing in belonging only to Iraq. 🔵 At the end of this year, the combat role of the coalition forces will end, and the combat forces have already withdrawn, and today there is not a single soldier of the coalition forces with the status of a fighter, but a group of advisors arrived to support our forces and our needs in the war against terrorism and against ISIS. 🔵 We record great achievements for our heroic Iraqi army, as well as for our forces in the fight against terrorism, the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Peshmerga and the Federal Police for their success in challenging the remnants of terrorism. We killed many of the heads and leaders of the terrorist remnants, and the important elements in these groups, and we continue to kill them wherever they are in every part of the land of Iraq.
