Two legal experts comment on the expected decision of the Federal Court in election appeals

{Political: Al Furat News} Two experts in the field of law commented on the expected decision of the Federal Supreme Court regarding challenges to the election results.

And legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi said in a statement that the agency {Euphrates News} received a copy of that “the Federal Supreme Court’s decision today to postpone the consideration of the appeal submitted by the objectors means postponing the ratification of the election results until after this case and other cases filed before the court are resolved.”

He added, “The Federal Supreme Court may take the appropriate decision according to the evidence presented in the case in terms of the application of the new election law and the law of the High Electoral Commission, and whether the application was contrary to the constitution or not.”

Al-Tamimi indicated that “the Federal Court can not ratify the election results in part or in whole, or re-count and count manually throughout Iraq.”

He continued, “According to this and other lawsuits, it appears that the approval of the election results will be delayed until these cases are resolved, and the Federal Supreme Court’s decision is now binding on all authorities in accordance with Article 94 of the Constitution.”

For his part, legal expert Tariq Harb told {Euphrates News}, “So far, nothing official has been issued, and if this candidate is, the court either issues a decision or sets a date for its issuance,” noting that “the lawsuit was postponed for three days only, and the natural decision was the case, its rejection, and the approval of the electoral results.” “.

And he indicated, “When the President of the Republic hears the ratification, he will issue the republican decree inviting the winners to hold the session in the House of Representatives,” adding, “It seems to me that the second of next month is the close date for holding the first session of the House of Representatives in its new legislative session.”

Today, Wednesday, the Federal Supreme Court concluded the pleading session regarding the appeals submitted in the results of the parliamentary elections, after hearing the last arguments and requests of the litigating parties.

The head of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi Al-Amiri attended today’s session and presented evidence of fraud and the electoral commission’s tampering with the results before the Federal Court.

Al-Amiri, who filed the appeal, also demanded a re-counting and manual counting in four electoral districts, one each in the Kurdistan region and in the western, central and southern governorates.
