Baghdad / Obelisk: US President Joe Biden has nominated Alina Romanovsky, the current ambassador to Kuwait, as Washington’s ambassador to Iraq. 
Since graduating from university, Alina has worked at CII majoring in Central, East and South Asia.

She joined the US State Department in 2003.

She served as the Director of USAID and Director of the Office of the American Partnerships Initiative in the Middle East.

She also worked as a deputy in the Counter-Terrorism Office.

Finally, an ambassador to Kuwait in 2019.

Alina’s appointment in Iraq, at this very time, signals more American interest in Iraq

US President Joe Biden has appointed the current ambassador to Kuwait, Alina Romanovsky, as Washington’s ambassador to Iraq.

Shafaq News/ The independent assembly of Wasit people in Wasit Governorate announced on Wednesday that its parliamentary bloc, consisting of one deputy, has joined the Sadrist bloc.

Shafaq News Agency’s reporter stated that the Wasit People’s Gathering Bloc led by the current governor, Muhammad Al-Mayahi, announced in a press conference this afternoon that it had joined the Sadrist Bloc.

And he indicated that the bloc won one parliamentary seat in the recent parliamentary elections, noting that the number of Sadrist bloc seats in Wasit became 6 instead of 5.

The Sadrist bloc topped the results of the elections that took place last October, with 73 seats, and with the joining of the Wasit Gathering, the number of its seats rose to 74.

Al-Halbousi receives the US ambassador to Baghdad

Vojkova said in a recorded speech during the (Talk s’Let) conference to advocate and support women and prevent violence against them, that “the United Nations provides women a special place and stresses the need for equality and gender,” noting that “the latest available statistics indicated that all One in three 50-year-old women has had at least one experience of gender-based violence.

She noted that “today’s conference has a distinguished presence from various segments of society from the government, civil society, media and the private sector in order to talk to lay the foundations for ending violence and looking at changes,” calling for “discussing gender-based violence in various fields, investments and others, and this falls into reducing poverty and public policy making.
She added, “The liberation from violence will liberate women and girls in order to contribute to society to play an important role and support them to achieve economic independence and build a professional life for them,” stressing “the need to combat all kinds of violence against women, and all this by supporting United Nations Council Resolution 1325, which It supports political participation and protects women and girls from gender-based violence.
And she added, “The United Nations continues to work with the government of Iraq, the Kurdistan region and civil society,” noting that “the international community will be a partner to ensure that women in Iraq go through a transitional phase.”

She concluded, “This conference represents an opportunity to emphasize efforts, deliver voice, and raise awareness of the danger of violence, and we ensure that each of us has a contribution to society to ensure a safe society.” Ended 29 / h

The Governor of Baghdad reveals the completion rates of 4 hospitals with a capacity of 1,000 beds

Shafaq News/ The Governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, revealed, on Wednesday, the completion rates of four hospitals in the capital, Baghdad, with a capacity of about 1,000 beds.

Al-Atta told Shafaq News Agency, “Work is continuing by companies to complete four hospitals inside the capital, Baghdad, and the percentage of completion in those hospitals has witnessed progress and reached advanced stages.”

He added that “the completion rate of Al-Fadiliya Hospital reached 70%, with a capacity of 200 beds, either the completion rate of the People’s Hospital reached 60%, with a capacity of 200 beds, and the completion rate of Al-Hurriya Hospital reached 50%, with a capacity of 400 beds.”

Al-Atta pointed out, “The completion of the expansion phase of Sheikh Dhari Hospital, with a capacity of 350 beds,” noting that “this will contribute to providing medical and treatment services to Al-Hussainiya district and the surrounding areas.”

Shafaq News/ 44 banks participated in the auction of the Central Bank of Iraq, today, Wednesday, to meet cash requests and foreign remittances, in addition to the participation of 291 mediation companies.

Shafak News Agency reporter stated that the Central Bank of Iraq witnessed, during an auction, today, for the sale and purchase of the US dollar, a decrease in its sales of the dollar by 0.99%, to reach 200 million and 590 thousand US dollars, which was covered by the bank at a base exchange rate of 1460 dinars per dollar, compared to a day Yesterday, Tuesday, which sales amounted to 202 million and 324 thousand and 503 dollars.

Our correspondent indicated that most of the bank’s sales went to enhance balances abroad in the form of remittances and credits, which amounted to 132 million and 750 thousand dollars, while the remaining amount of 68 million and 220 thousand dollars went in cash.

Our correspondent stated that 25 banks have fulfilled requests to enhance balances abroad, and 19 banks have responded to cash requests, in addition to 291 mediation companies.
