Shafaq News / Iraq and Jordan are countries that differ in their ingredients, and they share strategic agreements at various levels, most notably the field of energy (oil and electricity) and the economy, in addition to other agreements.

The Iraqi ambassador to Jordan, Haider Al-Adhari, confirmed, on Wednesday, that “the opening of the land road took place after it was closed for more than a year and a half, due to the procedures of the Corona pandemic, and after the improvement that occurred and openness in all sectors, and based on the appeals of the Iraqi community wishing to use the land road.” In addition to the appeals of the travel car drivers, which prompted communication with the concerned Jordanian authorities, and a decision was taken to open the crossing (Trabil – Al-Karamah) to allow Iraqis to travel by land with their personal cars.

Al-Adhari told Shafaq News Agency, “An approval was obtained to allow travel car drivers to work on the (Baghdad – Amman) road, which facilitated the travel of the Iraqi community and finding job opportunities for travel car drivers, after a hiatus that lasted for more than a year.”

Regarding the export of Iraqi oil to Jordan, Al-Adhari said, “A preliminary agreement was signed between Iraq and Jordan, on 9/4/2019, to transport Iraqi oil to Jordan at the rate of ten thousand barrels per day, via the land route, and the second agreement was extended with the approval of the two Iraqi governments.” and Jordan on 9/9/2021.

The Jordanian Minister of Energy, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, had stated yesterday that Jordan’s imports of Iraqi oil amounted, during the period from September 9, 2021 to the current November 26, about 840 thousand barrels, or an average of 9,700 barrels per day, which reflects the development and prosperity of Iraqi-Jordanian relations on the All levels.

Regarding the electrical connection project, the Iraqi diplomat pointed out that “one of the outcomes of the tripartite Amman summit held in August 2020, and the tripartite Baghdad summit held last June, is the implementation of strategic projects, including the electrical linkage project between Jordan and Iraq, and after meetings and meetings It was held in Baghdad and Amman between officials from the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, an agreement was signed between the two countries, through which the western region of Iraq will be supplied with Jordanian electricity, and work on the project has begun and is expected to be completed in the last half of next year.

He pointed out that “the political will of the leadership of the two countries and the real desire to create Iraqi-Jordanian integration on the one hand, and Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian integration on the other, was behind working seriously to implement integrated strategic projects that benefit the peoples of the three brotherly countries.”

On the possibility of signing other agreements between Iraq and Jordan, Al-Adari noted that “there are other projects that are being worked on between the two brotherly countries, namely the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline, and the establishment of the border industrial zone between Iraq and Jordan.”

And he indicated that “the role of the Iraqi embassy in Amman is to translate Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s directives regarding the development of bilateral relations between two brotherly countries that share a history dating back a hundred years since the establishment of the Jordanian state and the modern Iraqi state in 1921.”

For his part, the mayor of Al-Rutba district, far west of the Iraqi Anbar province, and the border with Jordan, Imad Al-Dulaimi, said that “the strategic projects that were agreed upon between the two countries, began to bear fruit, but slowly, and not as we had hoped for, because strategic agreements take time. in order to integrate.

Al-Dulaimi explained, during his speech to Shafaq News Agency, that “the agreement on trade exchange between Iraq and Jordan is related to the stability of the security situation and according to the laws legislated between the two countries.”

Al-Dulaimi confirmed, “The agreement to export Iraqi oil to Jordan is progressing in full swing, with Iraqi and Jordanian wheels, after the Iraqi wheels were allowed to enter Jordan, and the Jordanian wheels are allowed to reach the Baiji refinery, and it is hoped that the loading will take place in the future, from the download station.

He added, “With regard to the electrical connection agreement, studies and preparation of plans and GBS points are now underway for the power line between the Risha station in Jordan, to Al-Rutbah, then Al-Qaim district, and even to the crutch station, and this is what was agreed upon between the two countries, and it is hoped to complete the works and launch the electric current During the tenth month of next year 2022, and if the project is completed, Al-Rutba will be supplied with national electricity for the first time in six years.”

Al-Dulaimi pointed out that “one of the most important projects that it is hoped to implement between the two countries, which contribute to saving the city of Rutba and have a significant positive impact on the whole country, is the delivery of electric current to the industrial city in the Trebil region, which will have a power transmission station.”

He continued: “The Trebil Industrial Zone is one of the most important free industrial zones, serving Iraq, Jordan and other countries interested in this field, and its achievement is reflected in the economic and commercial situation in Anbar and the whole of Iraq.”

For his part, the researcher in Iraqi political affairs, Ziad Al-Arar, said that “the agreements that Iraq made with Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and others that are expected to be with other countries, including Syria, come from Iraq’s urgent need for these countries, to have a clear outlet. and open to the sea.

Al-Arar told Shafaq News Agency, “There is a need by these countries to Iraq, as they have capabilities and companies looking for a large market like Iraq, in order to dispose of their investments and for the work of their companies.”

He added that “there is a great benefit to Iraq and these countries that we mentioned above, and all the agreements that were made between these parties will bring an economic return on Iraq and these countries.”

Al-Arar indicated that “talking about the economic reality takes a new vision in the political issue, since the economy is the main factor in the political, and even security, reality. When the economy is booming and the country is stable and the unemployment rate is low, this will reflect positively on those levels.”
