Baghdad / Obelisk: The leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Hadi Al-Amiri, saw, on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, that the United Nations envoy to Iraq, Jenin Plasschaert, is interfering in the elections and their results, as if she is the head of the High Commission.
Al-Amiri’s office said in a statement received by Al-Masala that it received in its office in Baghdad today, Wednesday, the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, Phil Variola, assuring him that keenness on the democratic path is the main reason for demanding fair elections and a peaceful transfer of power, noting that these elections are the worst. Since 2003, proceeding with its fraudulent results in this way is torpedoing the democratic process in Iraq.
He added: We have great cooperation and a good relationship with the United Nations mission, which we believe in its positive role, but our confidence has begun to be shaken due to the violations committed by the current head of the mission, Jenin Plasschaert, who interferes in the elections and their results as if she is the head of the High Commission, but rather as if she is a supreme delegate, and Iraq has not and will not accept any High delegate and must abide by her specific duties.
He added that the sit-ins of the masses protesting the falsification of election results and the theft of their votes are the most peaceful and disciplined since 2003.
For his part, the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, Phil Variola, said that there is a good performance in managing the technical and technical issues of the elections, but this does not mean that there is no fraud.
Ambassador Variola added: All appeals submitted must be considered in all seriousness, welcoming all legal options, stressing that the stability of Iraq is very important for European countries.
