Shafaq News/ The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, announced on Sunday evening, identifying the launch site of the “booby-trapped” drones that targeted the residence of the Commander-in-Chief, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, in an attempt to assassinate him.

Al-Kazemi announced, at dawn on Sunday, during a televised speech, that he survived an assassination attempt after his house was bombed by drones, while the security authorities explained that they had managed to shoot down two of three drones that targeted the Prime Minister’s home in the fortified Green Zone in the center of the capital, Baghdad.

And Rasoul confirmed in a statement to Al-Iraqiya (semi-official) channel, “The launching area of the drones that targeted Al-Kazemi’s house has been determined.”

He explained that “the two planes flew at a low altitude that prevented them from being detected by radars,” noting that “the assassination attempt included a second explosion via a drone, and it was thwarted by shooting it down.”
