The commission rejects 461 appeals against the election results

On Sunday, the High Electoral Commission announced that it had rejected 461 appeals against the election results, for various reasons

The commission said in a statement that “Nass” received a copy of it (October 24, 2021), that “the Independent High Electoral Commission continues to study the appeals submitted to it, as they were audited by the concerned department, and accordingly 483 appeals were presented to the Board of Commissioners today, Sunday. And after completing the necessary investigative procedures in light of the evidence and the recommendation made, the Council recommended the dismissal of 461 appeals for various reasons, the most important of which is the absence of evidence from the appeal or its violation of the provisions of Article 38 / first of the Iraqi Parliament Elections Law in force, as the appellant did not specify the station or center whose results he is appealing against. In addition to his demand to open all the stations of the electoral district or to prove that the announced results match, and these appeals will be sent with a recommendation to the Judicial Commission for Elections to decide on them in accordance with the law.  

She added, “In the same context, the Council decided to approve the re-counting and manual counting of 297 of the contested electoral stations based on 22 appeals distributed to the governorates of Diyala, Nineveh, Maysan, Karbala, Kirkuk, Dhi Qar, Anbar, Qadisiyah, Salah al-Din, Muthanna, Basra, Baghdad and Babil, as it came Supported by evidence, and the Council will make the appropriate recommendation in this regard after completing the counting and sorting procedures, and what is being reported by some media and social networking sites regarding the outcome of these appeals is incorrect, as this result will be announced by the Commission after the procedures for the manual counting and sorting process, which will be in Baghdad, are completed. We explained.  

And she continued, “The commission will start the manual counting and sorting procedures for the contested stations belonging to the Nineveh Governorate Elections Office, starting from Wednesday, October 27, from 8 am until 5 pm, followed by the rest of the stations of the contested governorate offices, which will be announced according to a later timetable. To determine the names and numbers of the contested centers and stations at the governorate and district levels, the counting and hand sorting process will be conducted in the presence of representatives of the candidates in the contested district with its stations, observers and the media, and the Commission will continue to consider the rest of the appeals successively.
