{Economic: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Finance approved a package of reform measures related to the restructuring of the Rafidain Bank, according to the white paper. 

A statement by the ministry, which Al-Furat News received a copy of, stated that “the reform package consists of several axes, including: creating a new internal system for the bank that complies with the governance guide issued by the Central Bank of Iraq, in which the board’s management is independent of the bank’s management, consolidating the independence of its work, and supporting efforts to complete Implementation of the comprehensive banking system, in addition to strengthening and regulating the bank’s relationship with banking service providers.

The statement added, “The package of measures included reconsidering the bank’s policies and procedures and making them more in line with the developments of the modern banking system in order to ensure the provision of the best and quality services by adopting a technical system to facilitate banking operations and carry out banking activities of economic feasibility in various sectors in a manner that serves economic activity and guarantees the rights of depositors and stakeholders.” “.

The ministry also supports “the possibility of transferring the data of the bank’s customers whose salaries are domiciled with the bank and those who received advances and loans from the service provider to the comprehensive banking system.”

The statement continued, “With regard to human resources, it was emphasized, according to the reform package, the necessity of contracting with experts and specialists in the banking and financial sector to enhance the aspect of expertise aimed at raising the level of banking services of high quality, and in line with the advanced performance of the banking sector worldwide.”

The Finance noted that “the restructuring procedures come within the framework of reforms designed to make the government banking sector compatible with the standards of governance of the Central Bank of Iraq.

Today, Thursday, October 14, 2021, the Arab Monetary Fund will hold a “remote” workshop to review and discuss the multiple initiatives of the “Bunna” platform for Arab payments, affiliated with the Regional Institution for Clearing and Settlement of Arab Payments owned by the Fund, which aims to open new horizons In the cross-border payments sector and the development of innovative models in the field of interconnection, with operators of payment network and infrastructure systems worldwide.  

In the workshop, a number of senior managers representing the Central Bank of Italy (Bank of Italy) and the global company Visa and the African Payment and Settlement System (PAPS), talk about their cooperation with the “Bunna” platform for Arab payments in various fields, and their vision of the added value that can be provided to enhance payment business through borders on the world level, by setting clear strategic frameworks for cooperation between different and diverse payment systems.

More than 200 participants representing central banks, financial and banking institutions, payment services and financial services providers from the Arab region and abroad will participate in the workshop, to learn about these important and vital topics and follow up on the development of the business of the Buna platform and its future plans.

On this occasion, Mr. Mahdi Manea, CEO of the Regional Institution for Arab Payments Clearing and Settlement (Bunna Platform for Arab Payments), said: “The Buna Platform for Arab Payments continues to work on introducing new approaches and exploring more opportunities available in the field of interconnection between payment systems. The former US ambassador to Baghdad, Douglas Silliman, said on Friday that the political forces that bet on severing relations between the United States and Iraq lost in the recent parliamentary elections.
Silliman indicated in a television interview, which was followed by “Mawazine News”, that “the relationship of Iraq and America in the next stage depends on the orientations of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr,” adding that “Al-Sadr and those allied with him should take into account the demands of the October demonstrators to give Iraq an independent voice.” .
And Suleiman considered that “the caretaker prime minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, maintained his relations with America and Iran, and his foreign policy was acceptable.”

A statement by the Presidency of the Republic received (Baghdad today): “Based on our national, constitutional and legal responsibilities, and in the interest of the integrity of the constitutional process and the democratic path in the country, and emphasizing the need to protect the interests of Iraqis, and in the interest of the country’s security and stability, and work not to be drawn into any escalation that might affect the Public Security We affirm that resorting to the people is a basic and constitutional principle as the source of the legitimacy of government, and that elections are a national entitlement and a peaceful democratic path to return to citizens and their choices, and the need to achieve Iraqis’ confidence in the electoral process to be an expression of their true will.

The head of the Negotiations Committee on the largest bloc and the next government of the Sadrist movement, Hassan al-Adhari, on Friday, blew up a surprise about the candidates for prime minister.

Al-Adari said in a brief comment on his Facebook account followed by “Nass” (October 15, 2021), that “the position of prime minister is not the preserve of men.”  

Al-Adhari added, “Women are half of society.”  

Earlier today, the Sadrist movement’s political body denied that a member of the Sadrist bloc’s negotiating team, Nassar al-Rubaie, had made a statement about the nature of the next government and the prime minister, to the official news agency.  

The media office of the political body said in a statement, October 15, 2021, that “what was reported in the media is incorrect regarding the nature of the next government, and we call on the media to adhere to the correct controls in publishing news and to adopt official sources, especially at this sensitive stage.”  

The statement added, “Nassar al-Rubaie did not meet with any media outlet, and we will file a lawsuit against false websites that promote false news.”  

And the official news agency published, earlier, a statement on the lips of al-Rubaie, the text of which was 
that “the next government will not be consensual and its head will be a Sadrist, and it will bear the responsibility for failures if they occur.”  

Early on Friday morning, the “Coordination Framework” denied declaring a position on the “largest bloc”, after information about reaching a large bloc.    

A statement by the “Coordination Framework”, a copy of which was received by “Nass”, (October 15, 2021), “no statement or statement was issued by the coordination framework regarding the largest bloc, although the number of winners from its candidates exceeded 90 winners.”      

The statement added, “The framework is still following up with the competent authorities that the confiscation of voters’ votes must be addressed, and will continue to do so until the mistake is acknowledged, the errors are corrected, and civil peace is not endangered.”      

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, had announced the names of the committee in charge of political negotiations and forging alliances for the post-election period.   

Al-Sadr said in a document obtained by “Nass” a copy of it, (October 14, 2021), “We would like to inform all political parties that the negotiating committee that represents us exclusively, and that no one has the right to interfere in its work, whoever they are:         

Hassan Al-Adari as its president, Nassar Al-Rubaie as his first deputy, and Nabil Al-Tarifi as second deputy, Hakim Al-Zamili as his supporter.         

He added that “the committee has the authority factor in the issue of parliamentary and political alliances for this stage, provided that they refer to us in the tasks of their affairs and avoid alliances with those who have comments on them… and that they work according to precautions and public interests.”

Iraqi women exceed the quota and get 97 seats in parliament

Baghdad/The Obelisk: The Director-General of the Iraqi Women Empowerment Department, Yusra Karim Mohsen, said on Friday that, according to the preliminary analysis of the election results, Iraqi women managed to win 97 seats, 14 more than the quota for women, including two winners from minorities, while these results showed 57 women win with their voting power without the need for a quota.

With the successive announcement of the preliminary results of the Iraqi general elections, Iraqi women managed to exceed the number of quota seats allocated to them, which is 25 percent of the total seats in Parliament, equivalent to 83 seats, where the number of winners this time reached 97 women.
