Al-Kazemi receives the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in the European Union

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi received, on Monday, the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy in the European Union and Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell and his accompanying delegation.

And Al-Kazemi indicated during the meeting, according to a statement by the media office of the Council of Ministers, and “Nass” received a copy of it, (6 September 2021), that “Iraq pays great attention to the relationship with all European Union countries in various fields, especially political, economic, and cultural ones.”  

Al-Kadhimi stressed, “Iraq’s keenness to benefit from the European experience in transforming diversity into an element of strength, by following democratic mechanisms and good governance.”  

For his part, Borrell clarified, “The European Union’s commitment to support Iraq at all levels, and to support the Iraqi government’s reform efforts, and its development steps towards developing reliance on renewable and clean energies,” stressing at the same time “the keenness to support the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections by sending monitoring teams from the Commission and Parliament.” Europeans”.  

Borrell praised Iraq’s “playing a pivotal regional role as a forum for views, and for what Baghdad represents as an element of support for the stability of the region and the consolidation of peace and security in it.”
