Shafaq News/ The head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Faleh al-Fayyad, delivered on Monday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a message from Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, regarding the conference of neighboring countries to be held in Baghdad at the end of this month.

This came during al-Assad’s reception to Fayyad at the presidential office in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Al-Fayyad conveyed to Al-Assad, according to a statement reported by the Syrian news agency “SANA”, a message from Al-Kazemi related to “the conference of neighboring countries to be held at the end of this month in Baghdad, and the importance of Syrian-Iraqi coordination on this conference and the topics on its agenda.”

During the meeting, they discussed the measures taken to enhance joint bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially with regard to “fighting terrorism and controlling border security, which is an important factor not only at the security level, but also contributes to the continuation of the trade movement between the two countries, which benefits the two brotherly peoples and achieves their interests.” “.

Earlier in the day, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry denied sending an official invitation to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to attend the Baghdad summit of regional neighbors, after the news was widely circulated by media outlets.

In a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it is not concerned with this invitation, and that “the official invitations are sent by an official letter and in the name of the State of the Iraqi Prime Minister, and no other party has the right to submit the invitation on behalf of the Iraqi government, so clarification is required.”
