Najaf.. Violent explosions rock an ammunition depot belonging to a Shiite faction

Shafaq News/ A source in the Civil Defense reported that violent explosions occurred, on Monday, in an ammunition depot on the outskirts of the city of Najaf in southern Iraq.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, “Civil Defense teams rushed to the site of a fire caused by an explosion of ammunition in an equipment store on the outskirts of Najaf.”

He added that “the explosions are still continuing, with the flames reaching more war equipment in the warehouses,” noting that the civil defense teams are trying to reach the fires to put them out.

The source added that the store belongs to the “Imam Ali” brigades, which are affiliated with the Popular Mobilization Authority.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire and the explosion of munitions.
