Hoshyar Zebari on the US dialogue: Iraqi leaders need to adopt courageous and bold positions

Shafaq News/ The former Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari confirmed; On Thursday, the upcoming US-Iraq strategic dialogue round in Washington; It is a decisive and articulated tour about the future of Iraq, its security and stability, and the future of its presence and international support.

Zebari added in his Facebook post; The Iraqi leaders need to participate in the security, diplomatic and political dialogues to adopt courageous and bold stances and decisions based on Iraq’s national interest, and to place the interest of their country between their eyes, away from bids, slogans and pressures, and away from unbridled regional ambitions in Iraq.

He stressed “the serious work in order to reach results and outputs that consolidate the country’s security, intelligence and air capabilities to confront the growing ISIS terrorism, and to strengthen security institutions to stand on their feet and to continue the international presence in accordance with the Iraqi sovereign decision within the conditions of maintaining the security and sovereignty of Iraq.”

Zebari added, “Iraq is not Afghanistan, and its collapse means the collapse of the entire region.”
