Shafaq News/ The C-RAM missile defense system managed to shoot down a drone that was flying around the American embassy in the Green Zone.
A security source told Shafaq News Agency, that the system detected three drones, after which they were activated automatically, and one of them was shot down inside the Green Zone after three bursts of the system’s cannon.
He added that the technical team at the American embassy was able to disable the other two marches after controlling their settings and landing them.
The C-RAM is an American system that is used to defend areas of great importance, from bombs, missiles and even mortars, by detonating them in the air using the M-61 Vulcan 20 mm hex-barrel rotary machine gun, capable of firing 4,500 rounds per minute with an effective range of 3,500 meters.
The US embassy has been in the crosshairs of repeated missile attacks since the beginning of last year 2020, and Washington accuses Iraqi factions linked to Iran of being behind these attacks.
