Masrour Barzani: The Kurdistan Region will annually provide 350 thousand tons of iron and steel for all of Iraq

Shafaq News / The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, inaugurated, on Tuesday, the “Med Steel” plant in the city of Erbil.

Barzani said in a speech on this occasion, “We in the Kurdistan Region continue to support the private sector, especially for such projects.”

“There is no doubt that this project can produce 350 thousand tons of iron and steel annually, not only for the region, but for Iraq as a whole,” he added.

Barzani continued by saying that it is a matter of pride that the region, day after day, went through the establishment of important projects, stressing that his government is striving not to depend on one source of income and to diversify internal sources.

The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government called on investors to invest in all sectors in the region, noting that his government has a solid program in the development of Kurdistan in all fields.

The cost of the plant is $ 100 million, and its production capacity reaches 350,000 tons of iron and steel annually, and it provides job opportunities for 1,000 workers.
