The delegation visiting Erbil included Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Joy Hood, Acting Special Representative for Syria Affairs Amy Electrona, and Director of Iraq and Syria Affairs in the National Security Council Zahra Bell.
A statement by the Presidency of the Region stated that the President discussed with the delegation the Iraqi situation, the Kurdistan Region, the relations of Erbil and Baghdad, the upcoming elections, the movements and concerns of ISIS, and the duties of the international coalition in Iraq.
He added, “The visions of the two parties coincide that ISIS is a great and continuous threat to the security and stability of Iraq and the region, and to confront and permanently eliminate it. Iraq and the Kurdistan region are in constant need of support for the international coalition.”
