Shafaq News / The Civil Defense teams have found the bodies of 27 people who died in the Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital fire accident in the capital, Baghdad.
A security source told Shafaq News that the toll could be increased, and that the civil defense teams are in constant search for survivors or victims.
The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, had directed an immediate investigation into the causes of the accident with the concerned persons in the ministry, and ordered that the director of the hospital, the director of security, and those responsible for maintaining the devices be brought in there to immediately investigate them on the background of the accident and preserve them until the completion of the investigations and hold all those who failed legally to account.
The Civil Defense Directorate announced that it was able to control the flames of a massive fire after it completed the rescue operations of the patients lying in the corridors of the Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, which is designated for Corona patients, with the participation of its international search and rescue team, southeast of Baghdad.
For his part, the Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Kazem Salman Bohan, told reporters that 90 patients and companions were rescued in Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, stressing that the Civil Defense confirms that the victims of the fire have been recorded.
He added that the fire broke out in the floor designated for pulmonary resuscitation in Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, indicating that the causes of the fire were not precisely identified.
