Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, discussed, on Friday, with the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jeanine Plasschaert, to support the Iraqi parliament to enact the laws necessary to hold ISIS to account for mass crimes and crimes against humanity.
His media office stated, in a statement that Mawazine News received a copy of, that “Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi received today the representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq, Jenin Blashardt, in the presence of the Special Adviser and the head of the United Nations investigation team regarding crimes committed by ISIS. Terrorist (UNITAD) Karim Khan. ”
The statement added, “The meeting discussed developments in the work of the investigation team into crimes against ISIS, and supported the Iraqi parliament to enact the necessary laws to hold ISIS accountable for mass crimes and crimes against humanity.”
